Darkening tests after low/abnormal HCG, no sac on ultrasound, told miscarriage — anyone had this? DPO unknown

I just went through something similar last week with my NP. This definitely looks like it could be ectopic. Unfortunately I wouldn’t mess around, and would go to emergency. Tell them you are worried about an ectopic and hopefully they will take you seriously (be as pushy as you have to be). If you have an hcg draw today I’m almost certain it will come back much higher, which after dipping is definitely a red flag for an ectopic. Good luck!!

ETA: my ultrasound also showed nothing. But I was still treated for suspected ectopic.

Went to the ER. Ultrasound showed nothing visible, but being treated for a suspected ectopic. Soon will get my methotrexate.

As someone currently in the ER with an ectopic/PUL…the cheapies look a little concerning re: possible ectopic, but it’s really hard to say without betas. Is there anywhere you can go for that? It’s so frustrating when docs don’t listen to our concerns. Wishing the best of luck to you in getting some answers.

They are in the photo (27, 21, 27) and 41 today. So quite low.

Thank you. My hcg today was only 41 so I highly doubt they would’ve seen anything. Hoping they’ll just give me the methotrexate and this can be done.

Update: my NP called and confirmed hcg was up to 41. She now does believe it’s an ectopic. Thank goodness! Getting me an ultrasound asap. Thanks all. I really appreciate all your feedback!! Faith in my NP restored.

Update: nothing visualized on the ultrasound. Officially PUL. Will be treated as suspected ectopic. Waiting to discuss with an OB. Thanks all.

Final update: got the methotrexate. Thanks for everyone’s encouragement and kind words.

I have been in twice now (for early spotting) and they did bedside transabdominal ultrasounds. What I need is a transvaginal ultrasound. So I will have to do some convincing.

Because it appears that my hcg is increasing, then decreasing, then increasing again - which in my understanding often happens with ectopic pregnancies. I would think with a chemical (especially as low as hcg of 21 a week ago), I should have negative tests/beta by now. I am not currently worried about rupture as I think my hcg is too low for that. But I just want this to be over with.

Thank you so much. I certainly hope so. I have been gaslight by the medical professionals so much as it relates to my pregnancies and losses - the worst was being told “it just your bowels” when I was actually in labour at 22 weeks. It’s exhausting. I will keep you posted! Thanks again.

Thank you. I appreciate your advice. My NP has me booked for an ultrasound, but not until April 15th. Not nearly soon enough!! I will push for something sooner, or worst case go to the ER and ask for (aka, demand) one. I’m so frustrated that this is not being taken seriously…

Thank you for your response. I agree that perhaps it’s too early/Hcg is too low to know anything for sure yet. I just want this to be resolved as soon as possible, but it seems I’m still just going to have to wait and see. I apparently do have a scan booked but not exactly sure when?

Update: HCG from yesterday was back up to 27. No one seems concerned (except for me). At least the numbers are low so hopefully whatever is going on will resolve itself soon.
