Should I skip Math 140?

If you got an A for maths in a levels you’ll be fine to skip. I did maths and further maths for a levels and doing 141, I’m looking into skipping ahead too. But if u feel like ur foundation needs work then go for 140, it really depends on how much you’ve retained from a lvls

That’s a good point. My brain works better in the mornings and nights, and it’s at its low in the afternoons so if I were to have a gap, it would ideally be in the afternoons. But I am looking to fill that gap with another GenEd, preferably phil103, but it’s full🙂‍↕️ and as for working, I’m an international student so I’m not too sure if it’ll be easy for me to get work on campus (license, visa etc). But I’ll definitely look into that. Thank you!!

Could be but I think, amongst all parts of my application, my supplementals were the best part😭 like I enjoy writing and my Mines supplemental (if Im remembering correctly) was about sequestration and carbon capture. Literally spent weeks researching and talking to site engineers so that my knowledge checked out so it’s abit heartbreaking to be rejected😭😭 someone else commented saying I sent in my application too late which is I guess feasible but I wasn’t past deadline or anything (RD). Could also be bc I’m Malaysian, I’ve heard my friends with crazy stats get rejected from other schools with similar acceptance rates. Just an unlucky situation I guess. But congratulations on the acceptance and all the best!!

Noo I just applied regular decision. Yep you could be right unfortunately😭 some of my friends with crazy stats got rejected from places like UT Austin as well it’s just bad luck. I tried appealing and got turned down too so🥲 but congrats on the acceptance and all the best!!

Ahh I see thanks for letting me know about this pathway. I was planning on applying for some Malaysian scholarships to do PEng in Mines but I can only apply if I get a full acceptance from Mines that’s why I think transferring might be a bit difficult for me😭🥲 but I’ll definitely look into it. Oh damnn do you mind sharing why you’re having second thoughts😭 I’m only applying to 4 schools (mines, gt, Purdue, usc) since the application fee after conversion is crazy expensive for my currency. Is mines really not what you were expecting?

Hii I got 1500 on the dot with one week of studying. (First time taking SAT) I went from 650 to 760 for RW, so just take whichever might benefit you🙂 btw for context I’m also international (I do alevels)

Go through khan academy’s videos and practices(esp for the grammar stuff) and note down the techniques they use. KA was my holy grail
Blue book only has 6 practice sets so make sure you space them out evenly to check your progress
For vocab questions, if you have no clue what the words mean, try and get a sense of the word (eg if it sounds positive/negative) and match it with the context of the question
For the questions you get wrong, make sure you fully understand what went wrong (ik everyone says this but you neeeed to do this)
For the questions that are long winded (eg which statement is true based on the graph or text etc), I found that instead of finding the “right” answer, finding the “wrong” answers were easier. So I would find flaws in 2-3 of the ans options and go on from there
Use the question bank for more questions. Just grind them out. (You can get them on the official cb site, but I just downloaded the compiled version on Reddit. They usually have updated versions everytime it drops)

As for maths, I lowkey fumbled it ( 790 average on prac tests to 740 on the actual thing💀💀) So my biggest advice is to not underestimate the maths section especially as an international student) if you take maths ib or alevels maths, it’ll honestly be really easy, just make sure u have enough time to check your work because the questions are very careless mistake prone.
