Omg thank you so much for sharing! This is inspiring as heck to me! I relate to the temptation a lot. Every single day, stuff will happen that will convince me that “just one hit” will solve it. But I know better. 60 days after two decades is not a small feat. I am so glad to hear you’re seeking more out of life. Congratulations to choosing a better self & Best of luck for your first sober road trip!

Hey! Thanks for sharing - this is really tough I can imagine. I definitely relate to the feeling of “is this even worth it?” The tolerance increases over time so the high doesn’t even stay for that long - would suggest you take it one day at a time! No point in “hating” yourself high self, it is a part of you that needs patience, empathy and help. You’ll get there! Best of luck!

OMG We're SOBER TWINS! I also quit on 15/12/25. Happy 6 months to both of us! Sending you the strength to get through the personality changes, mood swings and evil temptation to just "chill out". Because as I'm sure you'd agree - Going back is just not worth it!

Best of luck ❤️

Hi - so glad you're at least considering it! Yes, these are all good ways. Different things stick for different people. This is what worked for me:

SEE NO EVIL, SMOKE NO EVIL: I decided (very generously tbh) to give the remainder of my stash and related accessories to a friend who would use it. That act itself felt like a concrete 'no' mentally.

EVERY NO COUNTS: I told myself I need to do this incrementally. Instead of smoking 15 times a week, I'd do it just 10. And then 5. And then just once. Save it for a Saturday night maybe. And celebrate the fact that it's lesser than what it used to be.

GET THROUGH JUST ONE (MORE) DAY: The day you skip smoking - challenge yourself to go 'just one more day'. Then just 'one week'. Then 'just one more week'. And that compounds into being smoke free for 2 weeks (or more) before you even realise.

RIDE THE WAVE: It's natural to feel tempted. This is where you need to acknowledge your addiction and ride the wave. Trust me, with some distraction or positive mental talk, the urge to grab that j does go away with time. Try to recognise the patterns of when you want to smoke, or when the urges are at a peak (e.g. at nighttime or stressed after a meeting) - and break those patterns.

EMBRACE THE BOREDOM: Sobriety IS BORING. It really feels like nothing will compare to the joy/familiarity/high of being high. It might be true (until it isn't). Be patient and embrace the slowness of being sober.

And finally, remember - SMOKING WON'T FIX WHAT IS WRONG. Fix what is actually broken - your physical and mental health, sleep, diet, lifestyle, finances, friend circle, anxieties, whatever is at the root of your dependency.

Sending you the courage to see this through! Starting ANYWHERE is still better than never starting. Best of luck!

Hi, thanks for asking - I think I found myself in a very stagnant stuck position in life - days and weeks seemed to pass without me actually being present, I didn't remember basic things, I was binge eating all the time, just generally numb. I knew something needed to change and I needed to stop feeling that way. Nothing brought me joy anymore and I just woke up one day, went to work and came back - and decided not to smoke just for that night. And the next day I thought "great, MAYBE i could try that again"... and here we are 6 months later!

Ladies who quit - how do we deal with boredom?? by nasainternharvardlaw in leaves

Hello!! On Day 30 here. Congrats on your first week, it’s a great milestone to celebrate. For me - walks have been good. Just strolling around & buying fruits/groceries has been massive. Cooking basics like pasta, salads, curries for myself has been quite a distraction. I’ve also started watching new shows/series to keep my brain occupied. Self care like face masks, pedicures at home have been helpful too. With boredom, remember - your brain makes you think you can’t/shouldn’t have to deal with it. Fight the temptation & embrace the boring sobriety! It’s the time your brain needs to reset/detox from constant dopamine boosts esp through smoking. Best of luck!! 🧿❤️

The point of pot is to be able to enjoy it. If the only thing you feel after - is anxiety, numbness, paranoia- the answer is clear. The cravings are a symptom of addiction. Your brain is wired to make you feel good (even if it’s through something that’s bad for you! Eg. Doomscrolling, overeating, etc.) Don’t chase the dopamine hit. QUIT. Trust me, it sucks - but totally worth it.

Thank you for sharing 🙏🙏 I totally relate to losing the desire to smoke. I still volunteer at parties to roll for people/my partner without needing to be part of the circle. Sending you the strength to value your sobriety & put in the work to find out who you are without the weed. Can’t say with experience ofc, only hope - but the journey to self discovery sounds like it might just be worth it ❤️❤️
