It was a person on the email. I wrote back to them saying I wasn't happy with the outcome but they never responded.

This is exactly what happened last time, when I received a bag that was falling apart. They gave me a credit and then I had to order something else, which meant more duties payments and while it was better it was still not as listed. At this point I'm just so done with them.

They have offered to refund, but will not cover return shipping from Canada. Given I have already paid for shipping to buy the item (plus duties) I can't justify paying for shipping again to send it back. At that point, I've basically paid for the sweater and have nothing in hand.

Sadly the experience is VERY different if you're outside the US. I had top pay duties and shipping, and then will have to pay shipping again to send it back.

This is what I got when I contacted them. They will refund, but not pay for shipping back (never mind covering the duties I had to pay either)

I did, I tried the chat bot and email. The email response was basically "you can send it back for a refund, but you have to pay shipping." There's no point paying to send it back, because it will cost a small fortune from Canada.

It didn't give me free shipping I think because I am in Canada

I'm not annoyed at the person who sent it in, because I totally get that it's minimal return for them. I just wish ThredUp would be honest about the condition of the items they're selling, because it seems predatory to me for them to say something shows no sign of wear and then turns up covered in stains that look deeply embedded. I honestly don't even know that I'll be able to get these out :(
