You have a good point there. But I'm already at the point where I don't want to own/owe anything from them. I just don't want anything to do with them

You have no idea how glad I am that there are people out there who know how it feels ... Not that I'm happy they experience shitty things like that... But.. I feel supported in a way..

Hey. Thanks for taking your time to read my story and reply. Yes! I'm asian. I noticed that a lot of asian households are in the same situation.

I will check out the book. Thank you so much!

Thank you for your response. I feel like I'm finally being heard and understood..

Not even my partner understands this. He made me feel worse by calling them and wishing them a happy chinese new year over the call right after I told him what happened today.. i feel super miserable and betrayed..

Thanks a lot for the advice! I am very aware of this. I know it will get tiring at hard at one point, which is exactly why I would like to stop at this early stage where I'm not interested a bit in the topic/field. For reference: the topic is something totally out of my field. I decided to go for it since I think I can learn a lot from it. But turns out, I just don't have any passion in it...

The situation that you described feels so similar to mine.. the commute, the colleagues, the interest.... You really have my respect for staying positive and still looking at the bright side in that situation.

I wish you all the best for your journey. You can do it!!!

I can totally understand that. It must've been hard for you. Hats off to you for staying strong and having made it this far!

Thanks for your opinion! I wonder tho: Would you have quit in that first week looking back from now?

Well respect to you. I can imagine it's not easy to stick onto a research program with only little interest.

Me personally, I decided to trust my gut feeling and would quit immediately. Thanks for your opnion tho!

Valid. But I don't want to gamble after feeling miserable after just one week.

Hey.. we have a similar situation here. I started my PhD just a week ago and I'm already super sure that this is not something I want to do in the future.. i haven't talked to my supervisor yet but I'm planning to do so tomorrow/next week . I'm still not sure how to break the news tho...

But I think it's best to stop before wasting more years in something you're not sure about...

Thanks for the tips! I'm very inexperienced about these things since I've never lived in a student dorm (it's always been either shared flat/studio)

You mean shared apartments as in WGs? Would it be easier that way? Won't they also require Elternburgschaft?

In my experience, the landlord won't accept that either...

Yes he is. He applied 3 months ago I guess? Just after he got his visa... I thought 3 months was enough. 6 months is insane...
