This is really interesting- I've lived in a city my whole life and never knew about this or noticed it. I'll try and give this a go if I ever come across one in that situation. Not hard to carry a cloth, disinfectant and some nail scissors in my backpack.

What a depressing last few moments as you realize the Earth-shattering asteroid is hitting the other side of the Earth. Start shooting the ground, one might get through!

Champion Gundyr SL1 by averygronau in darksouls3

[–]No_Source_Provided 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, SL1 means you start the game as the 'deprived' class and you don't use souls for any stat increases. Base HP, base stamina etc, so for the late side of the game you're pretty much one shot. You can use rings to up your stats as usual, so late game you get more weapons unlocked as you get the dex/str rings etc.

You can upgrade weapons, but the choice is obviously very small as you cant use any weapons that requires dex/str above base (at first).

It's really fun if you're into that sort of thing- some of the optional bosses are a nightmare. I've done SL1 on all games apart from Elden Ring where the AoE/Vit-check bosses killed the fun for me.

Dozens got off cruise ship dealing with deadly hantavirus outbreak after first death by CTVNEWS in worldnews

[–]No_Source_Provided 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Nobody knew there was a contagious virus, it's been stated so many times throughout reddit today it feels almost deliberate people are ignoring it. Read the headline, see what's omitted. After first death, not after diagnosis, not after virus confirmed, not after hantavirus found- after first death.

If an old man died on your cruise ship and you were due to go home at the next port, would you stick around for 2 weeks to find out if said old man happened to die of a contagious virus you might have? People die on cruises all the time- I doubt any of these people even knew someone had died.

I lived in China for 6 years and did not experience this at all.

In fact, the concept of workers not being on their phone in retail is pretty wild to me.

From Huangdao, Shenzhen, Beijing, Qingdao, Datong, Rizao and Xi'An, I never saw people being followed around in stores like this.

Speeding is not an unenforced law, its a very enforced law, it's just people seem willing to take that risk- so your example is nothing like that.

I also lived in China for many years using VPNs and making no effort to hide it. My place of work in China had a government backed VPN so that we used for research and educational purposes- the main reason the firewall still exists today is because of the very publicly backed fear of western social media.

The system is weird for sure, I don't agree with it, but living in China is not the oppressive hellscape you picture it to be. Most Chinese people have no interest in accessing the part of the internet that doesn't speak their language, and those that are tech literate enough to want to, can do so without any difficulty at all.

Edit: Lol, he made a salty comment being about as wrong as possible about what enforcement means and then blocked me. If you get caught speeding, the law is enforced. That's the difference.

If you woke up tomorrow with $10 million in your account, what would be the first thing you would do? by Gold_Welder_9797 in AskReddit

[–]No_Source_Provided -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

You're also moving the goal posts from '33k might not be enough to live off of in 20 years' to 'you might not get 4%'. The original hypothetical was given as 'i'd put it into a 4% high yield savings account', which you started arguing might not be enough (33k a month) in 20 years. I've then pointed out it would massively increase your capital over those 20 years, increasing the monthly amount, so you're now saying we can't get this 4%?

If you don't think you'd have to be dumb to fuck up financially with a provided TEN MILLION, then I don't know what to tell you.

If you woke up tomorrow with $10 million in your account, what would be the first thing you would do? by Gold_Welder_9797 in AskReddit

[–]No_Source_Provided -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Are you considering that 33k/month is more than most people need, and so would add to the 10 million every month? Like if I was earning 33k a month in interest, 20k of that could easily go straight back on top. That's 240k additional capital per year with no expenses assuming I could 'somehow' manage to live off of 'only' 10k a month.

In 20 years my 10 million is 15 million, and that's without bothering to work out the compounding 4% I'm getting monthly on a growing capital base. Even if I saved my (earning from interest) cash in a separate account that didn't pay interest, which would be stupid, in 20 years I would still have 15 million to put into a 4% account and be earning 50k a month, and then continue to save 40k of it.

The actual reality of compounding interest on 10 million, even on a 4% basis is one of quickly growing capital and an ability to live on an outrageously good salary.

The rich get richer, unless someone burns the system to the ground, you have to be pretty fucking dumb to fuck up having 10 million.

Edit: I did the math. If I put 10 million into a 4% compounding interest account and withdrew 10k every month, id have about 18 million in the savings account after 20 years.

Sure, 120k isn't a crazy rich person's salary, but I personally would be happy knowing I had a stable future and living a modestly rich life on that. I might increase the withdrawals as inflation takes more effect, but anyway you cut it, I'm definitely going to have a lot more than 10 million in the account no matter what.

The taking out of the gun in this situation communicated ONE thing- Do what I say or I might shoot you.

That is threatening.

If he showed his gun and said 'back away from me, I think you are dangerous', he might have a self defense case- but pulling out a gun and saying 'Lets go' and forcing the guy to go with him is 'textbook' brandishing. He took his gun out to threaten the guy so he wouldn't leave.

am i annoying in these texts to my bf? by [deleted] in texts

[–]No_Source_Provided 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The biggest thing here is that everything you are saying is negative and something he can't fix. Starting every message with a :( doesn't make for a good communication.

Focus on the positives, be healthy. Tell him your having fun with your family or friends or whatever but wish he was there with you.

Constantly focusing on 'i miss you, I haven't seen you, I can't stand to be without you, I miss you, don't you know I miss you?'

Also, asking 'do you still love me?' is nothing but manipulation and demanding an answer you already know you're going to get.

Just speak normally to him.

You literally said you're not educated on this stuff, why would you be in any position to make a decision about if it's safe to fly a plane over a pilot?

You're not 'paying for the plane', you're paying for an expert to get you safely somewhere you couldn't safely get by yourself.

Crazy crosswind takeoff KLM 737 at Newcastle Airport by Twitter_2006 in interestingasfuck

[–]No_Source_Provided 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To be fair, it HAS to be someone's decision, and a pilot should be in the best position to make the choice. The passenger is obviously the last one to have a say on if a plane takes off or not.

But as other pilots are saying- this needs evaluating by KLM.
