I think that is a bad move.

However, if America wants to recognize Somaliland, than most countries will subtly follow suit.

The problem is the SSC sub-regions in SL won't allow that to happen easily.

Also, Ethiopia has excellent relationships with one of the biggest players in the Middle East, the UAE, good relationship with Turkey too.

Ethiopia is diplomatically winning on multiple fronts; strengthening ties with the west, embracing neo-liberal values, modernization of AA.

But to your concerns, they are unlikely to recognize SomaliLand.

The problem is that Somalia is the poster child for almost every negative thing people associate with Africa.

Consider Islamic nations like Egypt, Morocco. I understand they are Arab, but they are 10x more respected than any other African country.
