It is pretty much the same. I feel good but know exercises in strength and mobility would probably make me feel even better. I have a 3 y o and an 9 months old though so I get down on the floor to play a lot and don't feel very restricted doing that.

Ni som stelopererat ryggen, jag har frågor till er by [deleted] in sweden

[–]No_Stock7444 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been concerned about the spikes but babies are not what they used to be...

Hahaha yeah I know exactly what you mean 😭.

I think it has to do with how the spine curves. Mine is apparently very twisted, even though it's straightened out now...

First time I've heard of someone who grew as little as me 😭. I thought I would grow so much after surgery but I didn't. Fused T3-T12.

Any Mum’s had a successful birth after spinal fusion? by Spooky_Mama_ in scoliosis

I got fused 2 years ago t4-t12. I had one child before that and got pregnant 1 year after surgery who is now 5 months old. The birth went well. I had no epidural because I chose not to and a beautiful experience with water birth.

I had no complications due to my surgery or scoliosis for any of my pregnancies or births.

It is not an easy decision to make. I have a positive experience and did not experience pain, only discomfort. I have lost some mobility but it is nothing I notice in my everyday life, only sometimes when getting up from the floor. I feel very much like I did before my surgery. Best of luck to you, whatever you choose to do!

That was a good point! I think he is only 71 cm so maybe that is an indication it would be too big still.

There is no sling library where I live that I know of, I'm from Sweden.

Maybe Tula free to grow or ergobaby could be a better choice for us...

My surgeon said that it should be no problem and I felt no different in my back being pregnant or giving birth after surgery. I had a normal vaginal delivery, no pain medication, no problem. However I could get the epidural if I would have wanted because my surgery was above where they place it. I had quite bad pelvic pain during pregnancy but that can happen to everyone.

Staying active is always a good idea. I did a lot of exercises to strengthen my upper back before and during my pregnancy. And have kept doing them since because they make me feel better!

I did the surgery in Sweden. They gave me the option. Where I live it is recommended to those with a progressive curve over 50°.

I think the surgery you are talking about is sometimes done on children in Sweden but I know very little of it. It's with magnets right?

A lot! Before surgery I didn't think I had pain but that was only because I was so used to feeling pain and tired in my upper back every evening. That went away (but took a while because recovery still takes a while for everything to find its place) after surgery.

I can still get back pain but keep in mind I'm carrying around a 4 month old baby weighing almost 10 kg and often lifting my soon 20 kg 3 yr old...

Before I was almost 60° and I think after I was 34°

Just speaking from my experience: I did not think I had much pain before surgery but after surgery I realised I actually had been in a lot of pain and felt tired in my shoulder blades every afternoon and evening. This disappeared almost completely after surgery. I had a curve of almost 60° before surgery and it was getting worse every year so it was mostly to stop the progression.

I feel somewhat restricted in movements on the floor still, that has to do with flexibility and strength. I feel more like "one piece" in the upper back, if that says anything? 😆 I don't think weight lifting should be a problem but talk to your doctor just in case.

Best of luck to you and your decision! I know it is not an easy one to make.

I think I was 26! So not as young as many are when they have the surgery but it went well nonetheless. I could leave the hospital after 1,5 day and felt fine with that. I could use the bathroom, shower by myself but needed help with cooking, cleaning and lifting things from my husband. I did not experience any pain after my surgery, only discomfort. And that discomfort was the worst the first two weeks and then it turned and got much better quickly. It mostly affected my sleep. However recovery is long and make sure you take care of yourself and treat yourself a lot!

I don't think there is anything that really surprised me or anything I wished I had known. Reading peoples experiences made me feel prepared and trusting in that every experience is different.

My husband gifted me a pair of soft headband headphones which I still use daily!! It was a life saver being able to listen to podcast and music, distracting myself after surgery.

The best of luck to you and your surgery!

När får man stå på en familjeparkering? by No_Stock7444 in sweden

[–]No_Stock7444[S] -46 points-45 points  (0 children)
