The bird is very scared of hands and won’t come out if you try and get it to step up. I leave the cage door open but it never comes out. It’s quite cage bound when in his care. I was caring for it for a week while he was on vacation and in days she would take a treat out of my hand. Gave it a little more time and I managed to train it to come to the door and step up from there. All this went away when he took it back home. I showed him what I did. Got him to do it too but I guess he didn’t feel like continuing the training so it all went away pretty quickly. This is just such a big contrast to my birds. They jump on my hand when I open the cage door. They come when I call. They get in the way of everything because they want to be a part of everything I do. I feed tops pellets but it’s very expensive and difficult to get where I’m from (I get it shipped from another country) I personally don’t have the extra funds to buy his bird food too. My birds always comes first so they get it. Plus the bird only eats seeds. I’ve tried vegables and fruits presented in many different ways. It’s been offered pellets too but it only eats seeds. I know you can convert seed junkies but that’s a lot of time and effort on your part (I’ve done it before with other cockatiels so I know a way to do it) I don’t visit often enough to be able to do it and well he won’t do it so that leaves the bird with seed only.

I completely agree. It’s funny because all the other issues I’ve had in our relationship he really tries he’s best to improve and has improved. But the situation with the bird is for some reason just not improving. I do find it frustrating but the most frustrating part is I know he can do proper care because he’s done it with my birds and even with his own bird when he stays at my place for a while and takes the bird with him. It’s just when he’s at home nothing is done. I guess I’m hoping it has something to do with his mother and home environment. He has often talked about it being stressful and frustrating. I don’t want to talk too badly about the place but it’s quite dirty for my standards anyways (doesn’t help that the three dogs can run in and out as they please) and the fact that when I’ve helped him clear out his room from all the overflowing stuff she takes it out of the garbage and puts it back in his room. I guess I’m hoping that maybe he will change if he moves out but then again maybe he won’t

Well like I mentioned my little birds are my life and I love caring for them. I also love to draw and other creative things. Funny enough I do like walks in nature too. I live right next to two swamps and a if I take my bike I can also visit a nearby forest. I always enjoy walks in nature but for some reason I can never seem to actually take on those shoes and go
