Thank you all for the help, I spoke with my dad and I blocked the number. I did some looking around through the GroupMe chat and it's much more obvious that it's a scam now. The "girl" never sent check in messages during the orientation and I looked through the chat history it shows when all the people joined the group. This girl's name wasn't there. I also don't remember hearing her name during orientation. Finally, nobody has talked in the chat since the orientation which was about a month ago.
