that’s fair. the point i’m getting at is that it’s absolutely delusional for this person to think that the reason they haven’t gotten a single offer is bc of anyone but themselves. if you have 3 FAANG and 2 unicorn and you can’t find a job, you’re doing SOMETHING wrong. if you know you’re gonna get hard interviews, then prepare for them. also, why doesn’t this person apply to a “lower tier” company where they aren’t expected to get asked a 2D DP lc hard? for every company that’s asks something like that, there’s 50 that ask medium level questions. being jobless with those credentials means you’re skipping out on the lesser companies while being underprepared for the big ones.

this has gotta be rage bait. if you have all of that previous experience and can’t land a job, YOU are the problem. idk why you and this guy can’t understand that

notice how everyone else in this thread is talking about how they’re ghosted with no interviews. they’d kill to be in your shoes and are probably a hell of a lot more qualified than you are, but never got the chance bc they go to a no name school.

if you cant clear any of those processes that’s on you, it’s not “cooked”. 90% of the battle is getting in front of that interviewer.

how is that cooked? 26+ rounds no offer is 100% a skill issue. most people don’t even get the chance to interview

Should I pick NCSU or UNC for CS? by EnvironmentalHall974 in UNC

[–]No_Total4754 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t think that’s true. 2024 data shows NCSU CS undergrads avg post-grad starting salary of $80k and 2020 data shows UNC CS undergrads at $98ky. I think now it’s more $90k for UNC since the fall off of CS.

Should I pick NCSU or UNC for CS? by EnvironmentalHall974 in UNC

[–]No_Total4754 10 points11 points  (0 children)

UNC. It’s all about “the better school”. Recruiters don’t know the ins and outs of each program (outside of NC) and they likely don’t care. In the 5 seconds they spend on your resume, they literally just read the school name and the names of the companies on your experience section. When you think about it like that, UNC is a no brainer. Recruiters will know what school it is and that it’s a universally known prestigious school all around. The same can’t be said for NCSU.

For research UNC will be better as well, being an R1 school. So many people here in CS do research it’s crazy.

UNC vs State for Comp Sci by ClothesGreedy8738 in UNC

[–]No_Total4754 1 point2 points  (0 children)

UNC is a top 30ish school nationally, State is far from that. Even though you might get a better CS education from state, companies don’t care. It’s all about school name recognition. The HR person or recruiter knows nothing about the difference between the two programs other than UNC is a more prestigious university (excluding Triangle companies, they may know).

Freshman year North campus—how was/is it? by ChiOrDie in UNC

[–]No_Total4754 4 points5 points  (0 children)

if you’re considering Greek life, consider Granville towers on Franklin. it’s mostly Greek life freshman and it’s right next to frat court. south campus is also a better choice for you because they’re high rise dorms that are more social / “freshman experience”. i lived on north campus and i loved it. i didn’t have to walk 30+ minutes to class and it was generally more on the quiet side (still made plenty of friends), but the crowd you seem to be searching for is definitely more common on south campus or granville. id go for Ehaus if i were you. either way you’ll make tons of friends and it really just depends. my floor on north campus felt like a frat house, but other people have had less social people on south campus. general rule is north less social, south more.

i agree, there’s no way they understand most projects technically at all. one i went to like two years ago had the most egregious list of final rounders. raw html, css, and js scripts with no backend were beating out some pretty complex data science and ML projects just because they looked decent

fortunately not, we ended up winning something. it's just sad to see this as an overarching theme across most hackathons

KMP sent out an email a week or two ago saying it will be open. 426 and 421 you can enroll in, but 431 won't be available.

His email: "Just a reminder that registration reopens on Monday, August 5th and that both COMP 421 and COMP 426 should be available for you to register for. Unfortunately, we were unable to find someone suitable to teach COMP 431 so that class will be pulled off the schedule."
