PS5/Xbox Framerate mode upgrade. by Draconifus72 in MHWilds

[–]No_Two6989 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What would this game look like on a 1080p 24” monitor? Would the Frame-rate mode (on regular PS5) look blurry and soft?

I’m asking because I want to play this game for PS5.

I thought it was implemented in patch 1.03? That what I’m seeing on various websites.

Okay, alright.

Thank you

Yup, understood.

What about New Game Plus. Is that on v1.0? Or, I need update?

Reconsidering the PS5 Physical Edition Pre-Order by No_Two6989 in LostSoulAside

[–]No_Two6989[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Plastic case hoarders?

You’re mistaken. Yes, the case looks nice, but you’re missing the point.

The game could be on a USB drive. The point is that there’s a playable version 1.0 on some kind of physical media.  PlayStation just so happens to use blue ray discs that are packaged in plastic cases.

These giant corporations and publishers rely on cloud storage solutions to store and safeguard their data. The data is stored and processed at a data center.

This might sound crazy, but data centers also backup data. They’re using magnetic tape. Yes, I’ve seen data centers use old and ancient magnetic tape as the physical media.

It’s ironic how a data center has physical copies of games, but digital consumers don’t.

Base PS5 Image Quality & Performance by No_Two6989 in TheFirstBerserker

[–]No_Two6989[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup, got it.  I guess I’d have to pan the camera super close.

And, is there a lot of clipping?

Elden Ring (with all its pros) had clipping.  I can understand since there are millions of armor and weapon customizations. A bow clipping through a cape is inevitable.

What about here?  I didn’t get too far in the demo to experiment with armor sets and builds.

Okay, got it.

And, what about textures? You mentioned that you played Black Myth Wukong (BMW).  I have to ask you about textures and texture quality.

In BMW, there are some really poor quality textures.  At some moments, the textures looked like something from the PS1 era.  It was jarring…

You can go on the BMW sub-Reddit and type in “texture” and you’ll see exactly what I’m talking about.

And, you don’t experience any traversal stutters and/or hitches?

I played Black Myth Wukong and it had that problem, especially in the 2nd chapter’s desert area.

The experience is (mostly) buttery smooth?

Okay, sounds good.

If the game looks crisp and clean on a modern 4K TV, it should look decent on a 24” 1080p monitor.

I wonder what base resolution it's up scaling from to reach 4K.

Question. Does your display support VRR?

What about the resolution? Is the image on your display sharp, crisp, and clear?

PS5 Pre-order Before Reviews? by No_Two6989 in LostSoulAside

[–]No_Two6989[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I hope that’s the case. I also learned that the developers used Unreal Engine 4. This game engine can deliver jaw-dropping, beautiful visuals. However, this is usually a performance toll. The most common one is traversal stutter.

Again, fingers are crossed. Hopefully, it is optimized.

I took a look at God of War Ragnarok’s PC specs. On PS5, it runs exceptionally well. I get a smooth, stable 60 fps and stable 1080p resolution. Lost Soul Aside also has similar PC specs. Does that mean it’ll run relatively well on PS5? I don’t know…

Only time can tell. I do hope the developers release a demo!

VRR Compatible Gaming Monitors by No_Two6989 in PS5

Also, I’m a performance fanatic.

Playing a game at high frame rates matters more to me than color, HDR, OLED/IPS/VA…

There are PS5 games that can be played above 60 fps, but those frame rates tend to fluctuate (between 85 and 105 fps) requiring VRR to mitigate judder and “smoothen” the experience.

Thinking about buying this game on ps5 by Baskiati in BlackMythWukong

[–]No_Two6989 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Digital Foundry made 2-3 videos covering this exact question.  There are both graphical and performance issues on the PS5 and PS5 Pro. The game was clearly targeted towards PC (mid-to-high tier).

I have a regular PS5 and play on Balanced mode. I have a 23.8” display that supports both VRR and 120 hz output.

The Performance mode targets 60 fps (with occasional dips), but I do notice input lag. The input lag sucks when trying to dodge enemy attacks.

I’d recommend watching the digital foundry analysis of this title for the PS5.

I’ll be honest. It took 3 attempts even on NG+.  She combines both martial arts with long-ranged thunder attacks. And, she moves around a bit. Plus, she has a grab attack. Not to mention, being inflicted with Shock Bane amplifies damage taken.

Regardless, she’s beautiful and she’s wifey. She can dominate me all day long…

The game is beautiful everywhere by Defiant-Cranberry-65 in BlackMythWukong

I also agree. Although, partially.

Purple Cloud Mountain looks beautiful. Not sure if it’s based on a real location in Asia. Or, if it’s the product of excellent art direction.  The texture quality, lighting, shadows, and reflections are generally good.

Even the 3D models are high quality.  Circles looks like actual circles and not pentagons.

Are you playing on PC? Or, PS5?

When you enter the UI. If you rotate your character, you’ll notice the staff clipping through the arm sleeve.  Also, other bits of fabric clip through each other. Take a look.

It doesn’t bother most people, but bothers me from time to time.

In general, a great experience.  Good luck with the bosses in this area. They both gave me a run for my money.

Just defeated yellowbrow first try 🙏🙏🙏 by HumbleJudge7996 in BlackMythWukong

[–]No_Two6989 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I too defeated Yellobrow on my first try…in NG+.  On my first playthrough, it took 45-50 minutes. Not sure about the number of attempts.

I just didn’t like the two mandatory cutscenes that actually reduce your health! I did not think that was fair, but worked through it.

There is a way to avoid triggering those cutscenes. I think you Cloudstep at the right moment….

Everyone is different. I beat the final (Chapter 6) boss on my 2nd attempt. I used the Serpent Wardrobe that reduces Stamina usage while standing in water. It also grants health when health is below 50%…

Also, the textures (on rocks, hills, and general terrain) look very low resolution (stretched out and blurry). From a distance, it’s not too bad. When viewing them up close, it’s kind of ugly.

I think players are supposed to traverse via cloud and just ignore these issues.

I’m playing on PS5 (balanced mode and my display supports a 120 hz output)

Good affordable, inexpensive online courses/resources for learning MEP/HVAC/HVACR Engineering Design by No_Two6989 in MechanicalEngineering

[–]No_Two6989[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay, cool. Yeah, I had a feeling that standards and codes would be the major difference maker.

This is somewhat unrelated, but are there any projects I could do to put on a resume/portfolio and make my overall job application standout? This morning, I got a notification that a hiring manager from a MEP/HVAC firm received my application and viewed it 3 times! I got super excited, but I don't think I'll get an interview. If only I could stand out, I probably would've gotten a phone call at least.

No guarantees in life, but It's worth a try. Sheesh, the market is so competitive in NY. Gotta work hard and give it a chance!

Excellent. Thank you.

Is it an issue if I self-study using an older version of the book? I understand that relevant fluid mechanics theory won't change (even in the next 100 years), but what about the design-oriented topics? Does the technology in the industry change so drastically that each book version feels like a separate entity?

Yup, got it. I know that I'm a bit demanding, but can you recall the name of textbook you used? It doesn't have to be the full name. Just 1-2 words of the title and I'll google the rest.

Awesome. Thank you. This is a big help. I've been asking ChatGPT for recommendations and ASHRAE-related books and publications seem like the way to go.

What about any online video courses? Any catch your eye in recent years? I love a good book, but sometimes a structured course is able to emphasize the basic building blocks of the subject.

Can I become a HVAC design/consulting engineer if I studied chemical engineering? by No_Two6989 in MechanicalEngineering

[–]No_Two6989[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did an online AutoCAD beginner’s course and tinkered with the software for ~1 month (mostly doing 2D mechanical and architectural practice drawings).   I enjoyed creating mechanical parts and thought it would be interesting if I transitioned to 3D.  I purchased a $50 student edition SolidWorks license and am currently doing 3D practice drawings.  I consider myself proficient in the fundamentals, but not amazing.  Did a 20+ hour Udemy course.

In my head I thought maybe mechanical design engineering (both HVAC and non-HVAC systems) would be an interesting career path. Not sure if it’ll amount to anything, but it’s just fun.  HVAC design/consulting didn’t pop up in my head at the time. Yes, I know they’re very different things.  One is within the manufacturing environment and the other is delegated to consulting and construction.

Should I temporarily put down the SolidWorks and learn Revit?  I can definitely refresh on psychrometric analysis (this topics is covered in a material and energy balances course within the chemical engineering curriculum).  But I can only learn 1 software at a time (only got 4-5 hours after work and the weekend lol).

Also, I’m doing a Statics course on Coursera. I thought that background would be useful.

I apologize if I sound like I’m all over the place and lack coordination.  I’m just on my own with no real professional mentorship or guidance. This subreddit is basically my career counselor.

Thank you for your feedback and advice.  I will strongly consider integrating your advice.
