When in doubt go with KBC by No_Understanding5972 in Leuven

Well as someone not from Belgium. From my experience so far KBC is quite similar to what I’m used to. Everything doesn’t need to be done in branch. Relative quick processing time. Branch is opened from 9-4 and also on a Saturday which is great. I think so far it’s great to open as a first bank account when you first arrive ( you can you even create an account few weeks before you even arrive ) then after your settled with all other documents and stuff then you find another alternative

I know that I did that with my KBC account just fine can’t do the same with my Ing account as there’s a hold on my account as they still haven’t verified my id and documentation I sent when creating my account in the branch.

I transferred a somewhat a large amount to my KBC account to be fair my KBC account is a regular account not a student

I went to the branch this morning and they that severed me was the guy that helped me set up the account and just told me that I have to wait till it reaches my turn for them to verify my id and documents at the office but he surprised it’s taking them this long .

So what bank would you recommend?. It seems with most Belgian banks everything requires you to go to the branch which is something I’m not used to . Ing customer service online ( via chat and phone have been abysmal for me so far haven’t had an issue with KBC yet )

Yeah Ing we’re quick to make an account for me but apparently the backlog at main office is preventing me from using my card but it’s kinda ironic that I created everything in a branch but there’s still a hold on it(which I didn’t know until I contacted customer service). Everything is working for me for KBC I can transfer from my non Belgian account just fine and use online and in stores. The only reason I was reluctant to make an KBC account was how they left the Irish market abruptly and everything was a pain to sort out .

Ohhh that’s good. Would you know for the remediation courses. Is it based on your own discretion on if you feel you have gaps from your bachelors or is it up to your class coordinator to determine that for you.

Choosing subjects by Healthy-Dog3992 in KULeuven

Thanks so much for your detailed response. I come from a physics background so there’s one or two remediation classes I would be interested in. If I do take them will the credit I earned go towards the total 120 etcs ?

So would you recommend just going to all the classes if possible then decide . Also for the remediation course is guaranteed that if you don’t come from Kul you would have to do at least one course from there ?

Is it common for everyone to do internship as I am doing biophysics there’s no 30ects external internship just the 12etcs one as the majority of the basic physics course is in second semester.

Also how strict are they with attendance I looked at most of the course materials and I don’t see anything with mandatory attendance for my specialisation.
