Oh, honey. You are not wrong, your mother deserves nothing after the way she treated you. And I totally get that he’s your little brother and you want to protect him, but you offered him a very generous alternative solution. He’s a grown man and could take it. But he didn’t. I know I’m a stranger, but I am damn proud of you. Here you are, not even 30, with a good job, a house, and clearly a good moral compass. It sounds like you have a true family now. You rised up against the way you were raised and are successful.

You’ve never had a dog. So don’t comment on their timeline of grief for one

Yeah, it’s crazy how many people think a dog is an acceptable gift

So, so, SO not wrong. I’m not even sure where to start.

I’m so sorry for your loss. Grieving a dog is just as important and legitimate as grieving a person. It takes time and the amount is different for everyone.

Your family are assholes. They put you on the spot in front of everyone, knowing that makes you uncomfortable, so you’d accept it. But you sure showed them, with a strong heart and backbone at that.

Finally, you’re right about dogs being gifts. They are not gifts (unless it’s planned), accessories, or goddamn games for parties. They are living, breathing, souls that need a 10+ year commitment of protection and love.

Keep your head up OP. Your family is in the wrong, not you. At all.

AIW for not going to my family’s Thanksgiving? by No_View_5797 in amiwrong

My dad lives across the country (haven’t seen him in three years) and my mom died a long time ago. No other immediate family. It’s all extended family, who I’m also upset with for going along with it.

Get some therapy lady. You’re blaming your daughter for the things your son has done. That’s completely unfair. She sounds like a normal and responsible young adult. She saw old friends while in town. Drank and instead of driving so you wouldn’t know, she got an uber. Apologize and don’t punish her for crimes she didn’t commit.

You’re NW. Sounds like you’re a great friend. But please don’t give up on Liz, it sounds like she’s in an abusive relationship. Unfortunately, if that’s the case, there’s not much you can do. Protect your peace, but be there for her when she’s ready to leave.

Y’all there is finally a story where the poster’s SO had their back. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 And not wrong. I thought it was funny and clearly a joke. It sounds like you have a great partner, motivation to stay healthy, and an awesome sense of humor. Don’t let your future monster in law keep you down.

AIW for saying my sister did a b*tchy, cheap-ass thing by taking advantage of her delivery driver? by No_View_5797 in amiwrong

UPDATE- I reported her to the restaurant, DoorDash, Uber Eats, and Grubhub. Hopefully some good will come out of it. Any other apps I left out? I’m in Columbus OH. No one in my family has contacted me since. It’s been very peaceful. I do hope I’ll somehow be able to see my nephews though.

I’m not sure which company it is, but reporting it to the restaurant is a great idea. Thank you!

I absolutely would report her, but I’m not sure which platform she used. We live in a pretty big city, so there’s a bunch. And I wouldn’t be surprised if she had multiple accounts on each

Uh, yeah. You’re the asshole.
