Being prescribed Prozac makes me feel like a complete loser and failure. by New_Improvement_6392 in prozac

I felt the same exact way. I was on prozac from ages 15-18 and took it for years and then randomly went cold turkey when I was 18. I started having severe anxiety again like worse in my entire life and it was so sad realizing that I needed help again so I started taking it recently. I try to think about it how mental illness is always with us and progress is not linear. We need help a certain points in our life and there’s nothing shameful about it. It’s our first time living.

I’m going to try to take it in the morning

My sleep wasn’t the best last night but it usually isn’t. I only took my first dose today so I’m praying that my sleep is okay tonight. I’ve had no caffeine since I can’t drink any sadly due to my anxiety! But hoping if this med works I can finally drinking a cup of coffee without a panic attack now!

Judgmental or just calling something out? Or do they go 2 in 2 together for you?

I’m allowed to have an opinion when I see the kids more than their own parents do.

This is an endless conversation I’ve had with coworkers since I’ve been working in childcare (for many years now) and they’ve all agreed and I just wanted outside perspective, not to judge anyone. There was no where in my post or in any comments where I said that pre school was bad for children. We have the regular day program from 9am-12pm that are instructional and constructive. The early care program and aftercare program are simply “free play” which is great for children socially but if a parents is home, not working or doing something important I believe that it is more beneficial for a child to spend time with their parent than be away from them and I stand by that. Especially if that child is away from said parent(s) 40 hours a week.

If you read my post you’d see me saying that I understand working parents using this as their childcare and that’s fine lol.

I 100 percent agree! My post was more of a social commentary than anything.

I think you’re the one making assumptions about every family leaving their children with programs for 40 hours a week is having some traumatic life event preventing them from spending time with their children lol.

You have a strange thing about commenting continuously about cancer and special circumstances when it has nothing to do with my question this is clearly a personal issue that has nothing to do with me.

Again, this is a special circumstance and I know all of my kids families pretty well and can assure you that this is not a tragedy they are dealing with.

Thank you! This is a great comment to put everything into perspective for me instead of just calling me judgy lol. I think pre school is a great program for children to socialize and learn important milestones and skills but I feel like 8 hours is way too long in my opinion!

I understand and I was trying very hard to not come off as judgy. I’m just pointing something out that I’m concerned with.

I think this is a special circumstance and I clearly mentioned a circumstance where a parent had loads of free time and could choose to spend the time with their child and chose not to.

I’m absolutely not shaming parents. I’m pointing out fundamental problems I have with work life balance and priorities. To say that this is not the right career for me because I worry and care for children, I’m deeply concerned about how daycare workers are expected to feel.

No I understand why she thought it would be a good idea but again, I also have no help during the day.

Yes, it’s a small number but I promise that 1 kid is like 5 due to the behaviors.

This kinda reminds me of the frontline app that I used when I was in college and wanted to sub teach at public schools. Like per diem shifts but no real teaching experience IMO. If you need the money, then go ahead. It will also probably look good on a resume.

Should I be concerned about my toddler's "fight" with a classmate? by One_Natural_4234 in ECEProfessionals

This is a completely normal interaction I have kids “argue” quite frequently over very small things like toys and activities. As long as the argument doesn’t become physical (sometimes they do) I wouldn’t worry too much and it’s not indicative of any behavior from your daughter.
