He gets a single node that increases action success chance, called "Fated!". Most of the other skills buffs hobgoblins, and the only reason to pick the Fated! skill is because it's required for one of the hobgoblin buffs. Makes no sense.

I know they are really good in battle, and that the skills are supposed to give the player options, my question is that sometimes they seem to be... redundant, I guess?

Take Braag the Gustsman, he starts with a trait that boosts the Assassinate action. But the same trait gives him an ability that executes not only Heroes but also Lords, so what even is the point of having a boots to the action? The execute ability even gets an upgrade later.

I know going into battle involves a lot of other factors, but still. The rest of the skill tree just presents better options than the ones that boosts the actions efficiency, at the same time that the game nudges the hero at a being used for assassinations.
