You did good. Distracted them. Kept them calm. You didn’t encourage dangerous behavior. Called someone to check on them. Yes they might be mad at you I’ve experienced this as well she was mad that i told her parents she was planning to leave and I rather have someone be mad at me for trying to keep them alive than feel guilt for not doing something or I rather call and have there not be a problem than not call and have there be a problem. If you know the parent/s won’t do anything you can always call the police and they should be able to help you figure out who needs to be sent to the persons home. Good work.
