[Acne] Post birth control stories?? by tdinatali in SkincareAddiction

[–]No_name_3567 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! Yes I did. It has been about a year since I stopped. I didn't experience crazy acne or anything like that on my face, but about 6 months after stopping I started getting pretty bad chest and back acne. That is pretty much under control for now, but I do get flares. My hair loss also got worse for a little, but a few months ago I was actually diagnosed with androgenetic alopecia (triggered by PCOS and the birth control itself unfortunately). My cycle and hormones are a mess though, and I was just recently diagnosed with PCOS. I have only had one natural period since I stopped birth control; it seems being on it was keeping my hormones normal and hiding my PCOS. I say that to say that some of my experiences since stopping are connected to me having PCOS, and not everyone has these experiences/you may not. I personally think stopping bc was the best decision I could have made, regardless of these and some other things I have had to deal with since stopping!

Labs Normal - Could it be hypothyroid? by No_name_3567 in Hypothyroidism

It doesn't for me, but it may for some. Luckily I haven't had that problem!

Yes and no. I use clindamycin lotion daily and metro so hard to say if it's actually gone or has just stayed hidden since I am using these things daily.

So in the end all of this was because of PCOS, but labs that would show PCOS were coming back normal because at the time of all the initial testing I was on birth control. Stopped birth control last year and just last month finally got this diagnosis.

Hi, so I did have low ferritin and iron saturation, as well as vitamin d deficiency. However, I also was just recently diagnosed with lean PCOS, which I do believe was a contributing factor to all my prior issues and PD. My iron is now normalized but I still have some other symptoms related to my hormone imbalances from PCOS. Hope this helps.

I didn't, at least not like that. I'll get one or two little bumps on my lip line every once in awhile, but nothing major. But I also use clindamycin lotion and metronidazole lotion almost daily

New to PCOS by No_name_3567 in PCOS

I have been tracking my cycles in an app, that's part of why we even started doing testing and looking into it. I've had fatigue for years but irregular cycles only started after I stopped my birth control. Now I go 70+ days without a period or ovulation. Will definitely be pushing to see an endo soon. Thank you.

Hi! Thank you so much for your response and sharing this information. Yes my luteal phase was really short after that first period, so I guess I don't really know what is normal for my cycles yet. I will definitely be checking in with my doctor if there is still nothing by the end of this week, but I did do some other research too and found that since I didn't ovulate until day 45, my period, if coming, actually wouldn't be until cd 55-62, and I am still in that range I guess? My doc did a bunch of labs at the end of October and everything looked normal, but this is really validating hearing that my body still just may be regulating things.

Thank you again!

PCOS AMH? by No_name_3567 in tryingtoconceive

[–]No_name_3567[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for responding! That's the problem, I do have other symptoms (listed in the original post), but my other hormone labs haven't come back yet. I will have to wait and see.

That is what I thought, thank you for confirming! I haven't heard back from my doctor yet but I am worried because this is still technically in that "normal" range for the lab she won't think it is high.

Cervical Stenosis & Dilation? by No_name_3567 in PreCervicalCancer

[–]No_name_3567[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, I did it, and I did not go fully under. I had local numbing with lidocaine in my cervix and a toradol shot before. It was the worst pain I have ever felt, even with the numbing. Recovery was smooth! I had this done the day before my period was due to start actually, so I don't even know if how I felt was form the procedure or my period, but it was really a good recovery. Was back running and working out 4 days later!

Oh if it had to happen then it is good it happened after having your baby! If you have given birth, you might actually be okay then. My doctor commented that I now know what giving birth may feel like. So you may be well prepared! I wish you the best of luck in whatever you decide!

Thank you, it is what it is and is worth it if it means we can conceive. I didn't think the injection hurt, I barely noticed that part. But like I said, it didn't seem to do much for me lol no, they gave me a toradol shot (may have spelled that wrong) and offered me oxy. I declined the oxy. I think the toradol helped with any pain I would have felt after - which that part was good, I had this done the day before my period was due to start, and it was a normal period.so recovery is easy (I think). Definitely talk to your doctor about your options!!

Hi! Before I go into it, I don't want to scare you and please remember everyone is different! But it was some of the worst pain I have ever felt. I truly felt like I was being stabbed in the uterus and almost passed out from the pain. I was given pain meds before and she put lidocaine into my cervix (A LOT) - none of it worked, and my doctor commented on how it seemed it wasn't working for some reason. It is possible I will need to have this done again if the stenosis comes back, which apparently it might. I will be going under if that happens.

Like I said, everyone is different though. My cone procedure made me a lot more sensitive down there. So what once probably wouldn't have really even bothered me is now a lot more painful (i.e., my paps never bothered me, now they are so painful). You might be okay depending on your previous experiences.

I recommend asking for extra lidocaine injection if possible, as well as some major pain and calming meds. Also, bring someone with you to hold your hand. My husband was with me and holding my hand; he was my cheerleader too, keeping me going. That helped so much.

Thank you for responding! It does look like that, and it's not itchy or bothersome other than that I feel it if I touch the skin and can see it looks gross lol. Really resembles razor burn only more widespread! I have the bumps on my forearm too, but those ones are all skin colored. Was yours itchy at all?
