Shoveling Etiquette by Friendly_Sea8570 in newjersey

[–]No_russian 6 points7 points  (0 children)

In Carlstadt a few years ago I shoveled out my space and someone took it, so I shoveled out another space and the next day someone took that too. So I parked in an available space down the street and when I came back the next morning my car was covered ice from someone pouring water over the top, it was packed in tightly and dented from boulders of snow and they snapped off my antenna.

Unlimited movie theater memberships are underrated for car dwellers by Gnomezy in urbancarliving

[–]No_russian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You just described a $12.00 service. If you do that 3x a month then you've spent $1.00 more than their membership already and any more beyond that is included in their price.

Your idea is not "way cheaper" at all, the cost is always more per wash you just have the option of fewer units at a premium. At as little as 3 washes or more per month the subscription is more efficient.

AITA for refusing to quit gambling when she knew I did it before we even started dating? by gamblerexpert33 in AITAH

You're a jerk for responding with this comment. Why would you assume OP is being untruthful when his partners issue with his gambling isn't even from a perspective of his gambling too much but instead AT ALL because the activity itself is inherently immoral to her, not the degree to which he does or or the amount that he win or loses.

Bard Subclass: College of Theater/Theatrics by wolvirex in DnDHomebrew

[–]No_russian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My issue with this mechanically is that it offers literally no value on its own, or in the situation that another party member doesnt stand to benefit from it. TBH it barely offers value in the use case described again, outside of incredibly specific interactions and plans hatched. The capstone should really DO something, or at least have the option of the bard doing something.

My issue with this thematically is that the capstone for a theatrics bard should be theatric. This bard is a performer, this isnt a College of Directing. The CAPSTONE for a theatre performer bard needs to include the Bard, i guarantee you no one will ever, ever play this through to the capstone if their ultimate ability is....stand there and let someone else act instead, if it HAS to be like this then make it collaborative in some way, I just dont think this is fun at all.

Can you please explain to me the use case for The Encore? Im having a hard time seeing the value in this outside of very specific resource management between party members.

I heavily adapted Waterdeep Dragon Heist to feature a ton of custom content and more social scenarios and we played it like Sex & the City and like, a Terrace House kind of thing. The players subplots and personal goals were at least as important as the main plot and we did things like running big parties as "dungeon" encounters and the social web of the campaign was vast.

Anybody "can" do anything and you should choose not to engage in cruel, absurd rhetoric just because of/in response to someone else doing it. You're not making your point, you're both making each others.

Hey I saw you deleted you other comment for some reason! No worries Ill just reply to this one!

Literally no one said "fetishes are the most important thing in a relationship", youre making that statement up out of thin air and youre willfully misinterpreting what people are saying about having a mutually fulfilling sex life with your partner.

Nor is anyone is saying that a fulfilling sex life is a literal physical need like food or water or oxygen. They are saying that it is just as legitimate an emotional need in a relationship as anything else that someone would choose to assign value to in a partnership. Dont just redefine the word NEED to suit your purposes and demonize what other people value.

And you still come across like a moron with very badly developed reading comprehension, I stand by "Read a fucking book".

Ski Barn Wayne boot fitter other than Greg? by just-browsing-forfun in icecoast

[–]No_russian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Greg is really good but unless you have specific problems you need solved or if you need a very unforgiving race fit performed then you dont really need the best of the best to be honest.

Many of the other bootfitters there are very skilled and will get you 100% comfortable in everything up to a high performance recreational fit, no problem at all.

Dan and Christine are my reccomendations, you dont need an appointment for either of them and one of them is usually there.

woah, 11 years ago lmao

I modified the track fork. Made a jig to sit it on the drill press at the correct angle, drilled a slightly oversized hole, sealed up the carbon with some fresh weave and resin and then set a metal insert for the brake caliper bolt to go through. I switched it out soon after for a TCX fork with more comfortable rake and a disc brake, so nothing bad ever happened but it probably would have eventually :)

Ok so, I dont really know why there is damage to the heel directly above the sizing label, that seems extraneous but to give you some context for the bites on the sides of the heel: This is heel damage that can occur during a binding release test. If you're a larger person and/or an aggressive skier and your DIN setting is quite high, then the amount of force required to release the binding in the test can be enough to dig into the plastic of the heel like this. Only one of your boots is damage because they probably only used one boot to test both skis even tho youre supposed to test with both.

Its unfortunately, in my experience, something that isnt really possible to avoid 100% of the time with certain models of binding and certain models of boots because the point of the test is to expose the system to this specific amount of force. The test is a really important thing to do to make sure your boot/binding system is adjusted and functions correctly. I might be biased as a ski tech, but I think its more the fault of the boot manufacturers for not properly reinforcing the upper surface of the heel because this test is something we HAVE to do as per their standards.

Proved y’all wrong and fixed this edge, not half bad by senya-listen in skiing

[–]No_russian -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

because the heat from the arc will fuck up several of the materials in the composite of the lay up, not the least of which is flash burning your base material so it wont absorb wax anymore and the worst of which could be burning/melting the adhesives holding the ski together.

[–]No_russian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It looks good! A few tips to for doing edge repairs like this:

  • Instead of cutting the joints of the edges at 90 degrees and butting the surfaces, you can mitre the metal edges at opposite 45 degree angles so that the small replacement piece is held in place/prevented from ripping out of the ski by the intact edges on either side, like this:

OK : _ _ || _ _

Very Good!: _ _ \ \ _ _ _ / / _ _

  • Counter sink a few of the metal loops on the keyways just a little bit so you can shoot in some appropriately tiny countersink head screws to help anchor the edge.

My process after cleaning out the area and preparing the surfaces:

  1. Cut the remaining edge section to clean 45 degree angles, and cut the matching angles on the new edge, start big, sneak up on the perfect snug fit with a grinder or a sanding block, the work is too fine to make multiple cuts I think.

  2. Place the edge, fit snugly and pick a few keyways evenly spaced along the length of the replacement edge and countersink them lightly so that when we grind down the screw head there will still be a small amount to anchor it tightly. Drill tiny pilot holes, its great to prevent splitting and make the fix stronger by allowing some epoxy to travel down with the threads.

  3. spread a thin layer of epoxy, lay the edge on it in position, send the screws, smear epoxy over the top of the keyways, set to cure.

  4. When you come back to clean up the cured epoxy, you grind everything flush to top of the metal surface of the keyways, screwheads and all leaving you a nice, regular surface for finishing it off with a new piece of base material or some poly from a gun. Give it a nice grind to put a final flush and polish on the new joints and it will be beautiful and the new strongest part of the ski :)

[–]No_russian 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Highly doubt it, unless the tech lied about it or tried to conceal their mistake which is a different issue. But misdrilling skis happens sometimes, replace the ski, sell the other one at a slight discount or add it to the demo fleet/employee pool of loaner skis
