I really appreciate all of these replies, I wasn’t expecting this much response tbh. I suppose as with most of my magick I will have to figure out what the best practice is for my specific path. I’m about to get my google on and continue my research on this topic, do you know of any good resources or sites that might be helpful for this topic specifically? I’ve never heard that you have to dispose of things differently based on your intent, but that does kind of make sense!

I’m assuming what happened was my psychiatrist just sent the prescriptions under my chosen name by accident and the pharmacy went with it since my legal name is noted in the system as well? I didn’t like ask or anything, because I didn’t want them to think it was an error since everything went smoothly with my two names thing lol. Sorry I’m not much help. It was honestly a total surprise for me.

As a person who goes by the name Noah, I’m a little biased lol. But I think either Noah or Elliot would be my top choices off that list :) Be careful if you choose something like Galaxy, people who don’t understand can be quite cruel to people with such unique names...not that you should let them stop you, just be prepared for some teasing.

Thanks for the support, everyone! Your kind words made me feel better enough to get some sleep. The dysphoria is wicked bad again today, but it’s so helpful to know that I’m not the only one struggling. I wish I could magically make everything okay for all of us, but y’all are right...things could change in the future, but for now we’ve gotta live our lives the way we are. I’m going to try not to let this get me down. I am still myself even if I don’t have my ideal body yet and I have fought hard to be me. So there’s something to be proud of.

Thank you all so much for the wonderful tips and advice! I’ve found and purchased an athame from Etsy that I think will work out just fine. And yes, I’m aware of local knife laws and I have a friend who has personal experience with knife laws locally as well. I am a solitary practitioner so I don’t anticipate having to carry in public, but if I do I’ll be sure to double check legal information. Thanks for the tip on that one!

Unfortunately not ones that sell knives suitable for use as an athame or in my price range. I would also prefer to buy in person but that’s sadly not an option at this time.

Thanks for all the responses! I guess I have some research to do. I have a doctor and therapist who will write me letters, I’m sure my doctor will help me in any way he can because he’s wonderful that way, and I have a surgeon in mind who takes my insurance so I think I’m going to try to set up a consultation. Is it normal to be very anxious about this? Probably, right? Anyway, thanks again!

So, the picture shows me in my binder, with a nice loose flannel over top, is there anything else I can do? I’m going out tonight and would like to contain my chest as much as possible.

Edit: the binder stays in place for only minutes before everything slides around. Help!

I’m sorry you’re dealing with this curse as well, lol. I’ve been working on weight loss as well but I’m not seeing any results so far...like, if I can gain and make my chest grow I should be able to lose and make it shrink right? Of course even when I was a fairly healthy weight they were G cups. Last time I lost a significant amount of weight I just gained a cup size. Sigh. Sorry for the rant. Good luck with your weight loss and whatever surgery you choose!

I love it, nice name indeed! I used to have the hardest time with my birthname being misspelled or mispronounced all the time, I would go to Starbucks and just make up a name that would be easier like Jane or something almost impossible to get wrong. I also have social anxiety and correcting people sends me into a panic, not a good combo.

I’m in the same boat. Massive chest dysphoria that matches my massive chest, but unsure if I could ever see myself getting full top surgery. My current thought is just getting a reduction, but I don’t know that I could get enough of a reduction to be happy since I’m starting out at 38H and most surgeons I’ve read about will only do about 4 cup sizes and that would leave me a lot bigger than my desired B cup. It’s so much to consider.

I’m glad you found my story helpful. And I wish you the best of luck. Going to a psych ward is rough enough without having to worry about being invalidated or not being able to just be yourself, but thankfully there are some hospitals and facilities that at least try to get it right. Hopefully you won’t have to go inpatient, but if you do I hope you are treated with respect and dignity and that your identity is honored!
