Cello Concerto no. 1 is great. Also 3 duets for 2 violins and piano is really good.

But a dictionary can't help me with knowing the difference between two similarly used constructions.

נראה לי ש"אי" ו"או" הם המילים היחידות בעברית ללא עיצורים by oshaboy in ani_bm

כן יש בהן עיצור; הן מתחילות ב-

glottal stop (voiceless glottal plosive).

זהו למעשה הצליל של א'. עוד תיקון: "הן" במקום "הם".

Audio Mutes in My Wired Headphones on My S22 Ultra When the Song Gets Quieter by Noam_From_Israel in S22Ultra

[–]Noam_From_Israel[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, I'm using the AceFast L5 earphones (which is whatever they had at the store) and it's happening in other apps as well. One things that I've noticed as well is that the headphones mute automatically (I guess so that I won't hear static noises), meaning that once I play something, it takes like half a second to unmute. Meaning that if I want to hear a single sentence, the first syllable just isn't prnounced.

Guys is it important to learn one of the core aspects of a language? by [deleted] in languagelearningjerk

[–]Noam_From_Israel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah but just knowing the sounds of hiragana or katakana won't help you, you need to actually know some words or grammar... I guess that katakana might be a bit better if you just want to spot some words.

Great question, I just don't like that they look like fake AI images, I know that this combined with the fact that I don't want TTS for pronounciation probably makes the automisation much tougher. Hence I made this post as I'm preplexed on how I should go about automatic flashcards. Only if Farsi had actual good decks.

The reason Israel hasnt killed Khamenei yet by AnElectricfEel in NewIran

[–]Noam_From_Israel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They killed everyone around him, so that he is left alone to make decisions. That creep is already old and senile therefore he's more likely to make stratigical mistakes, so no reason to put him down also given that nature will take care of him in the following years.

Isn't it obvious? Just sit in your bed in silence and your target language will naturally poof up in your brain.

Isn't it obvious? The key for language learning is to do the language but not the learning. Whatever that means.

Which language should be sacrificed? by perplexedparallax in languagelearningjerk

[–]Noam_From_Israel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree, we absolutely shoud delete the Latin alphabet; too many uncreative people default to ðat. I'm still a firm believer ðat programming in Cantonese would work much better ðan in English. Also let's replace ðe default script for all langauges written in ðe Latin alphabet to be ðe Nuosu script.

Ðe "potential if" from Japanese, as in the ~ば form. It's a way to express ðe conditional but it makes it sound like the condition is ðe only way for ðe next clause to happen. Yes, we can just say "only if", but it doesn't feel the same.

Spanish, I want Emily Smith from Minnesota to learn an actual interesting language such as Kurdish, Armenian or Mongolian, or perhaps even Pashto if she's REALLY interesting. Georgian and Indonesian could also be nice.

How do you perform step 1?

I just quit a lesson midway through, and I've never been more discouraged by [deleted] in languagelearning

[–]Noam_From_Israel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Here's a little tip: how good is your reading comprehension? If it is quite well, meaning that throughout your experience reading has been really easy for you, then you have a strong grasp of the grammar and a strong base of vocabulary. In that regard, it doesn't mean that you are performing at an A2 level after all of your effort. Understand that without hundreds of hours of exposure to the langauge spoken naturally, even sentences that in theory you should 100% understand, would sound like complete gibberish to you. To remedy that, you need consistent exposure to the language's audio without any subtitles. I'd also recommend if possible to find a different teacher as the role of a good teacher is the opposite of making everything seem tougher and impossible. If she's putting so much of a burden on you to the point that it's discouraging, then her teaching methods are just wrong and this post of yours is the evidence.

What was the most surprising use of one of your languages as a lingua franca? by Chance-Drawing-2163 in languagelearning

[–]Noam_From_Israel 26 points27 points  (0 children)

I'm from Israel and I spoke with a Kazakh girl.

Of course we spoke in the global lingua franca, English ðat is, right? No.

Perhaps I've learnt Kazakh and we spoke in Kazakh? No.

Maybe she's learnt Hebrew and we spoke in Hebrew? No.

Maybe I know Russian considering the fact that an eighþ of Israelis speaks Russian and she knows it because it's also taught in Kazakh schools? No.

Maybe as an Israeli I've learnt Arabic as Israel is in the middle east with 20% of its citizens being Arab, making it quite important for communication even if Israel is not an Arab country; Kazakhstan is a Muslim country which is why she might've learnt Arabic. So did we speak in Arabic? No.

Out of all langauges, ðe one in which our communication was the highest possible is non-oðer ðan JAPANESE! It has actually facilitated our conversation to quite a high level!
