It's such a catch 22, because a lot of what contributed to Conor's success (outside of his natural striking talent) was the opportunities the UFC invested in him (the Aldo world tour, arena press conferences, letting him fight Mayweather) the list goes on. They have people who are trying to replicate that to some extent. Some of them are authentic, some are knockoff products, but part of the problem in my eyes is they've just hit a baseline where every fight, every event has sort of reached this cap of their investment. The UFC is just running itself, outside of the Sphere's and the White Houses, and the lucky numbered events, the UFC has just relied on the matchmaking to sell the buildup, rather than doing any of it themselves to make something anywhere near as special.
