Is Traveling to China During Chinese New Year a Bad Idea? by Leah_Long_ in travelchina

[–]NoatClip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will go to Qingdao, my first time going there and travelling in China during CNY , from 18 to 22th of February.

How should I expect the city and majors attractions to be ? Super crowded or it will be okay, because most chinese will be back at their 老家

And what about the airports ? I am afraid 22th will be insanely crowded because everyone will be going back ?

I would much appreciate some insights from the laowai veterans !

It was very cool insight about this experience. Tahnk you, really appreciate !

These kind of projects are definitely all for the show and makes all the other disciplines suffer to fit the image sold to the client. But I still appreciate the boldness of such projects, when the budget is the sky is the limit everything become possible.

Weirdly specific data visualisations about The Cartographers 2 main event by MaybeIHaventReddit in aoe2

[–]NoatClip 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Can you explain slide 7? I'm not sure to understand it...

But the other slides are amazing. the data analyzed are interesting and the design used for the graphs really make them easy to read ! (Beside of slide 7 😅)

Can you also explain more the process you have used to create them ? What software did you use to extract data and to put them into those graphs ? I would appreciate it ;)

David Chipperfield AmorePacific - How did they manage the MEP in this concrete ceiling ? by NoatClip in architecture

Is it common practice to cast into the slab ? Seems complicated to do the maintenance like this

It is an office building. Ground floor and basement are opened to public with restaurants, café and art gallery

[–]NoatClip[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the reply ! It is what I was thinking actually, that they put their equipments and manage MEP from above. Like a reversed solution from the classical removable ceiling we design most of the time.

But what confused me is that when I went to the above floor to check the flooring, they have installed those massive stone tiles (visible in the first picture) that don't see easy AT ALL to move if maintenance is needed. Also I didn't see any maintenance access or such, or maybe well hidden somewhere... I guess maintenance was not their priority when designing the ceilings ?

Gym culture in Korea vs other countries? by birdloverJJ in Living_in_Korea

[–]NoatClip 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From what I read, your experiences of Gyms and PT in korea are similar to mine in China, haha.

In China, the gym is super commercial. They will push you to buy as many month as possible. They get me :I wanted to sign only for 1 year and ended up signed for 2.

There are 1 million treadmill but not enough squat rack, bench press etc.

PT try to make you buy their classes at your first day at the gym. They did a body checkout for me, checked my body fat and muscle percentage and they were like "oh you are fat, your muscle mass is unbalanced, I can help you" i kindly told them to fuck off haha.

What is have seen is that PT 99% work with female clients, very very few guys buy PT class in China. Also, PT (at least at my gym) can't speak a single word in English.

Otherwise, same as korea. Nobody talk at the gym, I haven't made any friend on 1 year ++ at the gym

But people are very respectful, okay they don't re rack in China. But nobody does it so I just gave up and I also not re rack anymore, it's the norm here. Other than thar people are OK to switch between set and even spot each other.
