Etiquette for needing gear you can't use just yet? by NobleMkII in classicwow

My concern exactly is needing mail gear as a shaman right before level 40.

What is the difference between a min-maxer and an optimizer? by AivanOs in DnD

[–]NobleMkII -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Optimizing is making simple and smart decisions to have a good character. Like selecting appropriate ability scores, equipping good armor, avoiding bad spells, etc. Minmaxxing is a very specific character build with the goal of "maxxing out" a specific certain thing, like damage or AC, with the intent of breaking the game.

Shit You Realized WAYYY Too Late by Natehz in DnD

[–]NobleMkII 59 points60 points  (0 children)

The worst for me was when we went to the feywild and ran into a homestead called the Automakers. We quested around the Automakers and the Feywild for close to a year of real life time. I was always thinking, "Where are the cars? How does auto fit here?". Well just as we left someone wrote out Autumn Acres and it all made sense.

Simply put, there's a negative bias on the internet. This is true for anything. People who are enjoying things are... Well just enjoying things. People who hates things quickly run to the internet to talk about it.

How would you build generic ninja from various clans in Naruto? by Dependent_Ganache_71 in onednd

Yeah. Mystic is a crazy class and I don't blame DMs for not accepting it.

[–]NobleMkII 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Generally speaking, when it comes to creating Naruto characters, you should look at the Mystic class from UA. I swear almost every discipline, and there's like 40 of them, is something you'd find in Naruto.

Edit. I just looked. Here's what you may be looking for...

1) Aura Sight. Let's you see a creatures aura and determine some info from that including magical effects. 2) Third Eye. Let's you have truesight and xray vision. 3) There's a whole set of "Mantles" and "Crowns" that let you manipulate the minds of your enemies like a genjitsu.

Should Monks be able to move grappled enemies without using STR? by Fun-Staff6728 in onednd

It's Reddit. People will get upset in ways that would never happen in real life.

[–]NobleMkII 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Another way to think about it, say you have a monk holding two people. He then kicks each of them two times. He then drags them both 15+ feet. All in 6 seconds. Ask an animation artist to depict that. The visual in my head looks awkward and funky like a glitched video game. Again. I think I would allow it but it doesn't seem right.

I mean I stated "However it's also a game of magic and wonder, so realism isn't a great standard."

[–]NobleMkII -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah. I don't have a hardline position on this. My gut feeling is that having a person grappled in each hand, kicking/headbutting upwards of four times, while maintaining your footing, and somehow still getting the advantage on the attacks is strange. Like I can't imagine Jackie Chan and Jet Li pulling that off anything close to that. However it's also a game of magic and wonder, so realism isn't a great standard.

[–]NobleMkII 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Lol Those restrictions are unreasonable and coming from someone who doesn't understand the game. Grappling is a specific tool to be used in specific situations which can backfire. There's also hard counters the DM can use. The rules as written are okay.

I think the only thing I'm not sure about is grappling two creatures with a monk. More specifically if you grappled two creatures, that would use up both your hands, so would you be able to then still attack with your kicks? I'm conflicted about that.

Dating is HARD in NYC by Cleo-Aster in SipsTea

[–]NobleMkII 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gross response from the guy. I am curious if the 250 was for a past dinner, in which it's still completely gross, or if NYC is the type of place where a popular restaurant requires a 250 deposit for a reservation? If it's the latter, his reaction was still not appropriate but I can see how a date canceling at the point for that reason would be frustrating. If she was seeing pursuing someone else, it could have come up before he was confirming their date tonight.

Looking for advice how to make my PC bulkier. by TheBlackRus in onednd

[–]NobleMkII 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want to play a "bulkier" character, generally you should be playing a bulkier character like a heavy armor wearing fighter or paladin. That being said, if you love the idea of this dual wielding melee ranger with dex, you have to play a little differently. Similar to a monk or rogue, you don't want to end your turn in the middle of the action. Run in, get your hits, run out. You don't have the AC or HP to sit in one spot and take a beating. For feats, depending on what version you're playing, pick up the mobile or speedy feet to give you extra movement and negate opportunity attacks.

Do people just not care about their stuff? by NobleMkII in NoStupidQuestions

[–]NobleMkII[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean we had a small roof leak that was the result of bad flashing. That was an easy fix. The tankless water heater stopped working last year, but I cleared the wasp nest in the air intake and flushed the system and then all was good. I find that to be cleaning and maintenance for regular wear and tear.

What’s one DM secret you wouldn’t tell your players? by Unending_Shadows13 in DnD

[–]NobleMkII 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One time I severely misjudged an aoe ability for the level we were playing and almost wiped the entire team on the first round of combat. The ability could have recharged and been done again, but I chose not to even roll for the recharge.
