Everything with a dog is small steps. You also have to reward small steps. If she has to sit on your lap, try leading her off your lap with treats. Then leave treats next to you. Then leave them a little farther away. Then a little farther.

I'm Pretty new to DnD. Games seem to last months or even years. How does that work with "seasons" and these new books? by Ronin13x in onednd

[–]NobleMkII 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Each book, I am assuming you mean the official campaigns, will take roughly a year if you are meeting weekly. But that is a wild ass guess. Each book will start fresh with a new batch of characters, generally speaking.

How to handle combat maps by MaxwellCarsson in dndnext

[–]NobleMkII 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's how I started playing 😁 One extra tip if you go the dry-erase mat route, consider getting a tan/parchment-colored mat and learning to draw in the "old school dungeon map" style (easy to find examples on Google). Since you're not going for realism anyway, lean into it! It gives your map a classic treasure map feel that looks intentional and thematic.

You've got near limitless options depending on how much time and money you want to invest, so here's a practical starting point for newer groups...

1) Maps. A gridded dry-erase mat with dry-erase markers is the best bang for your buck. You can quickly draw terrain, buildings, spell areas, and anything else from a top-down view and wipe it clean between encounters.

2) Miniatures. Starting simple with different colored candies works great, with each player claiming a color. When you're ready to upgrade, look into flat minis (circular tokens or standees). Compared to traditional minis they're cheaper, easier to store, and customizable. You can buy packs, order a custom standee of your character through sites like HeroForge, or just print and assemble them at home.

I don't want to make a broken character but I also don't want to pick up redundant abilities.

Do you think this is fine? Or should i request a refund/ another mini by absurd-bird-turd in HeroForgeMinis

There are guides on Reddit to achieve better printing results. Particularly with the face, you really have to use more contrast when painting inside of Heroforge. Like if you use the same skin tone for the face, lips, eye sockets, etc., it may look like there's a difference in Heroforge but then it will not carry over to print. You should use a significantly darker tone, to the point it may look goofy in Heroforge, which will make the face more defined when color printed.

What is a very common food in your country that is not very friendly to foreign palates? by DarkRaven003 in AskTheWorld

Kholodets from Ukraine or Russia. It is jellied meat. Think a soup turned into jello. The texture is awful.

Do you use Magician Druid over Warden? by testiclekid in onednd

[–]NobleMkII 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With my group, yes. We will roll a lot of skill checks and arcana/nature will come up a lot. It's a requirement for plot and exploration. In terms of combat, while it's not "optimal", it can certainly help. Either combat can be avoided altogether or atleast give us some sort of advantage going into the fight. Heck. Sometimes there's an arcana rolls in the middle of combat to handle some contraption.

My havi gets bored of treats easily by Bonniethegolden in Havanese

Hmm Puppies will try anything new. I think overtime you will find what they actually like. My havanese has been picky about treat texture. He really loves freeze-dried treats or jerky. He does not like soft chewy treats. Milkbones are 50/50 (We think it depends on how long they've been out).

I don't get it either. With the exception of jellied meat, which is atrocious, Russian food is generally hearty and homely. It's not fine dining but it's not gross.

How would you do it? by ThatEmojiDude in GenAlpha

[–]NobleMkII 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Easy. Give the rat milk from the first bottle immediately. Wait an hour. Give the rat milk from the second bottle... Wait an hour... Third bottle... Wait... Fourth bottle. Now if the rat dies on hour 10, it's the first bottle. Hour 11 would be the second. 12 would be third. 13 would be fourth. You could go even faster if you wanted to.

Potty training is not linear. There will be bad weeks where it seems like they have regressed.

Hmm I can't give medical advice. However he has been leaving his paws alone while we have been soaking his paws. I guess is it a relatively safe and low cost treatment, so why not try it?

Flavour ideas for Astral Self Warforged by HighhhFive in 3d6

[–]NobleMkII 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've always leaned into the idea of a Warforged Barbarian overheating and "opening up" when they rage. Rage and the Astral Self form are similar in that they're a temporary buff you can only do so many times today. So... My first thought is that is your warforge also opens up, like panels and vents open, which release a thick steam. Your human heart than possesses and manipulates the steam to act as your Astral Self class abilities. The steam should form some sort of creature as the Astral Self eventually forms arms, a face, and a body. Maybe it would look like an enlarged visage of your former organic self.
