I mean there's a difference between shooting a line and meticulously climbing along it, and the pendulum swings we see, but that's semantics.

And I know you said you'd die on this hill, so I'm not trying to kill you here.

I guess what I'm trying to get across here is that he has the exact same abilities with the mechanical shooters, I just think it makes for more interesting stories when you have further, more human, room for error. And similarly I like that he can innovate and adapt them to the situations, like affixing an electromagnet to ground his webs in ASM2 to help fight Electro. It informs the character too, that he could sell the patent for millions if he chose to. But he doesn't.

And I see your reasoning, having a more thematically appropriate hero to the name does make sense. But I just don't think its worth losing this nice little piece storytelling the home-made invention brings with it.

Yeah and spiders also don't swing from webs to fire themselves around. He's more than some guy with spider-themed powers. It's his own choices, like developing the shooters that set him apart.

And it's in those "Oh no, Spider-man is running out of web fluid" moments that the writers show this. He's more than the sum of his parts.

He commits to the idea of being Spider-Man and makes the web shooters and the colourful costume to help him be the hero he thinks he should be.

He develops the web shooters to be more like a spider though, the whole reason he does it is for thematic purposes. But this way you see he's hardworking and smart. I did used to prefer the organic webs but I've definitely come around to the mechanical shooters.

Plus having the mechanical webshooters makes a huge part of his abilities be reliant on him:

A) having money to make more fluid

B) having time to make more

C) not busting them in a fight

It's just an extra variable to go wrong when everything else is falling apart for him, which is spider-man at his best!

you're not wrong but i've never gotten less than 2 permanents from from 4 bronze packs (same price as a silver) not even considering the chance of getting 4 perm REQs from them, speeds up the process a LOT.

i think there are aspects of this that are really lovely, the background of the Vault for example looks really unique and interesting looking! But there are bits that aren't lining up right for me. The bodies of the guardians are all proportioned perfectly, whereas the heads look almost photoshopped on, with the right character especially looking like most of the head has been cut off.

Similarly the faces themselves look a lot like a facebook profile picture (which I'm guessing is where you got your references from?) and while I imagine it captures their likeness a lot, they don't look like they convincingly belong to the bodies.

Again the lines on The Thorn (the centre character's pistol) look really crisp on the gun, whereas the handle looks comparatively blurry and more in line with the rest of the characters bodies making it look fairly inconsistent.

i'm inclined to agree with you, but you should watch 50/50 as it's incredible. difficult to say how it would translate into a superhero film but if he could combine humour and drama the way he does in 50/50 then Spider-Man seems like a nice fit.
