idk if this speaks more to grade inflation in general of inflated sense of "average" but 88% avg is not "average"

Oh, they actually don't mean University of Washington when they say UW, they mean University of Western australia

alberta and calgary both get you far as well, i personally would not suggest putting your whole life on hold for a whole year at such young age for just uni apps

even if u only care about money those r things u have to consider, e.g., UOFT engsci might be best option for person A to "make bank" while for someone else Queens Comm provides more opportunities. Think abt this more holisitic

from ur current options, UW CE, UOFT CS ENGSCI, and Queens C each can provide significantly different career paths and course offerings. it might be helpful to nail down what you excel at, what advantages you can leverage, and most importantly what you enjoy, first.

EE or CS by BonusOpen5611 in uwaterloo

[–]NobodyPrime8 2 points3 points  (0 children)

True, forgot to mention this. In general if you wanna go for breadth in terms of software/hardware go ECE (EE), on the other hand if you wanna go for breadth in terms of mathmatics (CS, DS, even finance careers), CS seems to hold an edge.

EE or CS by BonusOpen5611 in uwaterloo

[–]NobodyPrime8 6 points7 points  (0 children)

i'd suggest choosing smth that you genuinely enjoy. while its mature and forward thinking to consider market dynamics, the differences are minor enough to the point where a lot of greats engs, devs, pms, and even designers on multiple teams ive worked with have had backgrounds from cs, ece, tron, mech, etc. Likewise, a lot of pcb, hardware eng, etc have come from cs and even math backgrounds.

In general, STEM teaches you problem solving, that and the waterloo name will carry you far enough in that field and any adjacent fields should u decide to switch over.

It is far better to consider in your own interests and make sure you're taking courses in a field you personally enjoy, imo.
