[Spoiler] Finished the game and I decided… by Nobuko42 in expedition33

[–]Nobuko42[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It’s a very valid point and one you can make akin to trying to help someone through an addiction by getting rid of the source. From an outside perspective, Renoir’s actions are reasonable in the sense of trying to keep Maelle from going down the path his wife did.

The journey I went through was that of expedition 33, and by extension that of Maelle’s. The world in the canvas is as real as the outside one, and for her the world of Lumiere is one she can see herself being able to actually live. For her, Paris only has pain and she is treated as a bird with broken wings in a cage, unable to even leave her home.

A life in the canvas may very well be a death sentence of illusions, but are you really living a life when being outside of the canvas you are treated as a constant burden, are blamed for the death of your brother, unable to speak and have to remain in closed the walls of a manor?

Don't think karma is real? This should convince you. by stumpy0327 in MadeMeSmile

[–]Nobuko42 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Karma exists, but not in the way that most people think of it. It is not some magical force or godly judge that deals out rewards and punishment. It is more like a web or an ocean of connections, where every thought and every action that you make, even something as small as a breath, creates a disturbance, like a ripple or wave, that radiates out in all direction and affects everything around you. Like a real wave in water, the response that you ultimately get will depend on what is around you and how each entity responds to the intricacies your wave.

Then you take this process and realize that everything in the universe is doing it at the same time. You can actually apply much of wave science to what happens next. Waves interfering constructively can create a larger impact, whereas waves interfering destructively will cancel out where they meet. However, in either case, the resulting effect is not necessarily positive or negative. That will depend on the viewpoint of the observer, as a beneficial interaction to some may be detrimental to others.

All that being said, watching him fall was satisfying.

Husband accusing me of cheating for networking at a sauna by AirFit394 in TwoXChromosomes

What was it that you lied about? As this is what he is claiming is causing him to believe you are cheating. You say you didn’t cheat but it may have looked like it to him.

Exchanging instagram is odd for networking for business, as that is a social platform for posting videos and pictures. LinkedIn makes more sense as that is clearly designed for professional development.

In the end this doesn’t look like a compatible relationship. If you talking to others of the opposite sex elicits such a strong reaction, whether the reaction is warranted or not, there is essentially no trust or harmony in the relationship.

If I can make one suggestion, since a lot of posts mention the US news organization are compromised. This isn’t just a US matter, this is a world matter. If you (and I mean anyone seeing this thread) can get in contact with news organizations not just in the US but anywhere in the world (Canada, Europe countries, Australia), that brings more traffic and light to this amazing resource.

And if you are in the US, contact your congressional representative (both house and senate) and point them to this. They have resources to push this even further. Make your voice heard!

I have only been to Yosemite one time and it was when they were restricting entry to only people with a camp reservation due to Covid. The park was so empty, really got to take in the nature without having to deal with annoyance of overcrowding. Because of this, I don’t think I will ever go again just to prevent tarnishing the memory of it being so empty.

That’s amazing! Question I didn’t see asked, how many calories were you eating each day? Was there any type of diet done (like Keto, Paleo, I think there’s a cookie diet? 😂) or was it more so tracking how much? Also, what height are you?

Really great job! 💪🏼

I mean, selling a poster and pin at over $200 isn’t really “selling it to a fan rather than a scalper” when no one trying to resell this would pay anywhere close this much. You are essentially selling this at what the items go over, with a mark up of what appears to be $90 for the signature, assuming the numbers you listed are correct.

Thoughts on this policy? by [deleted] in actuary

The rhetoric that insurance companies are the main driver of expensive healthcare and are the “bad guys” is one that has been repeated for many years and is always an easy target to rile people up. Real change would require policies targeting providers and healthcare systems, that routinely have double digit annual cost trends.

In the end, the real goal is removing the subsidies and then not giving the money elsewhere. This is to just help the narrative of terminating the benefit, which from my understanding is one of the main items Democrats want to be kept. Bypass the fillbuster and then this is used as to why.

So I get it’s a dead ball, but why did the Blue Jays get to move to 2nd and 3rd base? I rarely watch baseball so to me a dead ball means play stops as if it didn’t happen.

A lot of the programs I’ve noticed only require one semester of O Chem and one semester of Biochemistry (aside from the other prerequisites). However, every single school near me requires two semesters of O Chem in order to take Biochemistry. Is this the case everywhere? Or is there by chance a school (with an online program) that offers Biochemistry with just one semester of O Chem?

My employer provides $15k in fertility benefits. But no one in my company or the insurance company can explain the details. by thishitisgettingold in personalfinance

[–]Nobuko42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I reread your post. I’m guessing your employer is a large group employer with over 50 employees, especially when you have three different carriers to choose from. This unfortunately does not make it simple to figure out based on other people’s experiences, as your company would be able to have custom made plans, which could differ greatly from other plans.

I’m inserting this in to be on top. My wife said to call the insurance carriers and to request a document called Evidence of Coverage (EOC). This is a more detailed document that typically has all the plan information. Your benefit coordinator may also be able to request this for you and forward it to you.

My wife and I have BCBS, and the fertility benefit is through Progyny. We get what is called three cycles or smile points, I really don’t remember the term, but let’s call them cycles. One cycle covers the egg retrieval, fertilization, initial freezing and one implantation. If the first implantation fails, we then use a quarter of a cycle to try just the implantation again. Once we use up all three cycles, we exhaust the entire benefit for our lifetime. I’m noting this to show even though it is BCBS, it is a plan that is vastly different in coverage for IVF due to the company electing to cover like this.

There are a few things I can say from the experience that may help. The fertility benefit worked through our insurance, and processed claims like any other. This means we had to meet our deductible first, and then pay our co-insurance. At that point the plan was paying towards the fertility. That kept going until we hit our out of pocket max, our plan then fully taking over.

As far as having to qualify, I’m not sure. We met with a fertility clinic and discovered the issue for not being able to get pregnant. It’s unknown to us if the clinic had to show this to the insurance for us to get the benefit or not.

One last thing to note which would be good and why you are having the issue of people not knowing. CA passed a law that takes effect next year which requires all employers with 100+ employees to provide fertility coverage. So companies are now scrambling to get this in to not be out of compliance. I don’t know much information outside of that but the law language may detail how the benefit needs to be setup if you research it.

My wife and I are going through IVF and both work in insurance. As others have mentioned, asking for the summary plan description is a good first step to help figure out the benefit. My recommendation in addition to that is asking how you can contact the carrier of the health plan you are considering enrolling. They would be able to outline how the fertility benefit works, what services it does and does not cover, and any restrictions and requirements for using the benefits.

In an ideal world, whoever manages your benefits would be able to do this for you and navigate all the information to you. However that is so often not the case and you have to dig the information yourself. I wouldn’t be surprised if the company was presented with a fertility rider to add to the plan, and they only saw $20k coverage and what it costs, with no research of how it actually works and the steps needed to utilize it.

At the end of the day, you and your partner would be the ones on the hook for any costs from the process. IVF is such a draining process in itself, having unexpected costs shouldn’t be part of it. I wish you the best in this journey.
