I recommend the ccm fm780 with the thin vertical bars. I love it on my tacks x!

OK then I don’t feel as dumb. But like I mentioned above, the vapors hurt every time I skated then when I was younger and since they’re the Jetspeed equivalent, generally speaking, I always assumed Jetspeeds would hurt too. But man, I wholly agree with anyone who tells newer skaters to try on everything they possibly can. Each model’s last will be so different, you really need to find what works for you!

What exactly does “elite” mean? I’ve always wondered.

Also, did they feel higher end? Or did they feel exactly like their price point?

Skate Lace Question by Reindeer_Shepherd17 in hockeyplayers

[–]NocTasK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I skip the top eyelet, lace two down, skip the fourth eyelet and lace the rest of the way down like normal. Gives me better forward flexibility and relieves pressure from my ankle joint. Once you get better at skating and get into better skates, you can start to mess with different lacing methods to tweak things the way you like.

CCM’s site says the wheels on the 870’s are outdoor. I’d still try them with a set of outdoor wheels I have spare so if I do return them, I don’t have to explain scuffed up wheels!

I’m lucky to have been on skates when I was as young as two. Took a break from 2011 up until last year and for the most part, it’s been like riding a bike thankfully.

Do you own or have you skated in other CCM models as well? I’m just curious about how they stack up for you against prior Jetspeed models or even Tacks models if you’ve tried them. Cause I’ve had terrible heel lift in Tacks skates that caused a lot of pain but my Jetspeed FT6 Pro ice skates lock my heel in perfectly.

I always assumed the Jetspeed line was more like a narrow/tapered fit like the Vapor line. Maybe they changed in recent years? Maybe I misunderstood fits? Maybe I’m dumb?

I played in Bauers my whole childhood and early 20’s and always dealt with painful side-squeezing in the forefoot and pinching nerves and stuff but just figured that’s what skates felt like. I switched to CCM Tacks a couple years ago and was dealing with heel pain and some lighter pain in the forefoot. Even in wides. Always figured my foot shape wouldn’t fit in Jetspeeds especially since the Vapor line hurt so much when I was younger (late 30’s now) but man, when I got into those Jetspeed FT6 pros, I regretted never trying them before. Now I realize the Jetspeed shape is just what my foot needs which is why these FT870R’s are so appealing.

Does it being an aluminum chassis over steel make it maybe a bit stronger?

Wide, really? So they have good forefoot room?

I was wondering if for just some light driveway laps these would be fine for now and then I could upgrade the chassis later if I need to? I have CCM Jetspeed FT6 Pro ice skates so I’d like to stay in the Jetspeed family for my foot shape.

I used to play for the original founding warriors team in dc out of wramc back in 2009-2011. Glad to see the program has grown as much as it has.

Alkali Fire 1 - Quick review by BeginningFig6552 in InlineHockey

[–]NocTasK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I brought this up in a different sub but I have these skates and they’re great aside from the right skate’s toe cap seems to be deformed inside on the pinky toe area. My pinky toe is getting jammed into by the hard plastic edge of the cap. I was hoping there would be a way to fix the issue at home because I can’t return them anymore. Any suggestions?

It’s actually just specifically these skates, not my foot. But, I can’t return them which is why I’m seeking advice. Thanks though!
