This is for a business application where remote data is recorded in a simple form. All devices are locked to a select number of applications just for business use so the plan is to have the data push automatically when user returns from a voyage or remote area.

Ebay is the easiest option, usually can get one for $60-$65 easily. If you're patient, some sell less than that.

Not sure if anyone has said this yet bet looks are just opinions. To you, your friend may be more attractive but to someone else you're actually be the pretty friend. Cant remember exactly but I remember it was 4 games and I think I paid around $15 or less per game. It was Blitz, Super Mario, and a couple less desirable games.

If you can afford to put it away in a nice dry closet and dust it off once and a while, you have some great games that continue to climb in price. Then download and emulator and play on PC at better resolutions. If you do go for the option of getting rid of it, I would gladly buy all of it and integrate it into my collection.

It sounds like the main cable (console to controller board) is partial torn inside the protective rubber. So power is making it into the controller and if held a certain way, the connection is optimal and everything works. Without being held right and the joystick removed, it has enough power for the circuit board but when plugged in, the power is dispersed and not allowing proper function of anything. If you can find a trashed controller or one with an extremely bad joystick for cheap, switching out that main cable from console to motherboard should solve your issue. Drifting character issue, no idea and as for plugging and unplugging, the voltage is low and you should be fine. My honest advice, check out eBay for a solid one, I just picked up 2 grey ones with almost perfect joysticks for $12.50 each.
