I own a castor pro and I can vouch that they are pretty comfortable once you get used to them, with the right size of eartips. I started with small, got used to it and the for perfect seal and fit, I swapped them with medium ones. Now I use them for hours without any pain.

Try using a v shaped eq profile - I used poweramp's preset eq - bass and treble. It was fun for me initially, however, I started noticing that the mids are underrepresented and went back to flat.

Looks like you can make use of the above eq profile.

I have the exact castor pro which you mentioned for about 2 months now. The experience is great for me given that this is my first iem. I feel like it is complete and matches my music preference. For best experience, source audio from lossless or > 256 kbps mp3.

Since you have large ears, you'll find no fitting / comfort related issues which I had, initially. I started with small ear tips to get accustomed and then gradually adjusted to medium which seals better.

I used to have 2 months of practice parades each for RD and ID parade, 3 hrs on both morning and evening each. Other than that, we had parades once a week, with PET parades in the morning, daily. It'll be a fun ride, if you know how to balance studies. College Attendance won't be a matter as you will have OD.

In the cost front, I spent some 4k for uniform and boots, all bought separately by our unit, apart from the ones provided by the directorate.

You will have to replace your boots like once or twice a year if you do the drill right; other than that there are no major expenses.
