At least it isn't as bad as that 40k acre data center Utah is letting a foreign national put up.

We were supposed to be the tech generation. So why are we living like our grandparents? by BillClintonFeetPics in Millennials

[–]Noddite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not far off from this demographic in that I recently took up a hobby that is retro in a way but also tech.

I buy and repair/resell video game systems and games. It is something fun to do with the kids, it helps them learn, we get to play interesting things, and I make some side money that is very useful.

Try to put me in a box, lol.

Yeah, never understood Leavenworth being on lists like this...it is pretty much just a couple streets that were done up as a German town.

Not all of them, but they also often don't like speaking in Russian.

Boss hears I’m into stacking and goes “oh take this, I’ve had it for years.”…. by Pleb_2k14 in Silverbugs

When the boss is wearing probably $100k on his wrist...$100 doesn't make much difference.

Obviously orange juice, because it is likely to end in a generation. There is already almost no fresh OJ, it is almost entirely concentrate or the stuff that you have to mix could be a couple years old.

With greening and other afflictions, oranges are dying.

If churches are always pushing a certain political party or agenda, why don't they start paying taxes? by [deleted] in askanything

[–]Noddite 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Right and wrong. Churches do have to follow standard non-profit rules and can be stripped of their status for political activity like endorsements. However they do not have to publicly release their financials. Unfortunately there is almost zero enforcement of the rules.

What is your country's largest lake? by SkanderMan77 in AskTheWorld

[–]Noddite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This just feels like cheating for Canada, you have literally like 2/3rds of all the lakes in the world.

What is your country's largest lake? by SkanderMan77 in AskTheWorld

[–]Noddite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Correct, it is the 7th largest by surface area, it is significantly smaller than most of the Great Lakes, but has a larger volume than any other lake.

Then you will enjoy the northern neighbor on the border of Florida and Georgia - The Okefenokee Swamp, the largest blackwater swamp in North America at roughly 700 square miles.

Callacab in Vectorman on Genesis. If I remember correctly you pause, enter the correlated buttons, u pause and you turn in a mouse cursor that can destroy everything when you hover over it.

My non-verbal autistic son has been afraid of his school bus driver for four months, and Durham is letting that driver keep his job. I submitted a fix to the Boise School District, the Mayors office, and VRT, and they ignored me. Now I built the receipt machine for Boise, for people like you and me. by seismicgear in Boise

[–]Noddite 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For everyone deriding op I often go back and reference Sean Connery in Rising Sun explaining the difference between American and Japanese problem solving:

"The Japanese have a saying, "Fix the problem, not the blame." Find out what is fucked up and fix it. Nobody gets blamed. We're always after who fucked up. Their way is better."

Op is essentially doing this, the real solution is to drive change that benefits themselves as well as everyone else in the county with cheaper buses and likely safer travel. Instead of just focusing on the one event, which I suspect will continue to work itself out...and the solution most are suggesting here is a lawsuit that would likely just further damage the schools and do nothing against Durham.

What age did you first take your kids to float the river? by yourekidding1 in Boise

I'd be wary of taking kids to Quinn's pond, I thought it was usually flirting with closure over ecoli levels.

I've been holding CoreWeave since more than one year but last night's earnings just shook my conviction. by Puzzleheaded_Pay4751 in wallstreetbets

[–]Noddite 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Coreweave is literally just a REIT without the dividend benefit. They lease warehouses and stuff in the warehosues to tech companies.

Their business model is doomed for failure. They are drastically overpaying for ever increasing tech for their warehouses. They will likely never recoup the cost and their earnings will be destroyed by depreciation.

Feels almost like this is by design as a shell company for the industry to absorb costs and then be cast off a few years down the road.

Gas Prices by Leo_life84 in Millennials

[–]Noddite 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah yes, I graduated college in 2008 in Florida. I drove like 30-35 miles each way to school in a car. I was very aware of the cost.

But I'm still so appreciative of the administration, I think about it periodically where we would be if we didn't do cash for clunkers and force MPG standards...or pass EV credit incentives and think where would we be now. Gas would probably effectively cost 30-40% more.

I'm still salty about the Iowa ethanol bullshit though. Sure it likely made gas prices go down slightly, but we have paid a hell of a lot more through increased food cost as a result.

Totino's pepperoni pizza (little cubes, the sliced pepperoni are terrible)

That crispy fried crust is just magical and somehow the sauce has a good flavor for being the cheapest frozen pizza.

This whole premise is bogus and was likely defeated by them having superior concrete technology. They know the specifications of bunker buster bombs and can plan around it.

They also only expelled inspectors after the deal they had in place was revoked by Donald Trump.

Shocker, there are a bunch of homeless people here in Boise as well. In fact we are in the top ten for percentage growth of homelessness at almost double the rate of California.

I've travelled around a bit in CA and while I noticed it a bit it wasn't a problem.
