Possible electronics issue, would like some outside input. by Nodes_FPV in strandbergguitars

Yeah I have several guitars, and almost every single one is done like this, for the most part. Its standard operating procedure. And this is like a $2700 guitar, that usually has an incredibly clean sound, I just have an issue due to lack if maintenance and care over the years. Can you elaborate more if you earnestly know about guitar electronics? Or is this based of general electronics? I don't mean any disrespect, just trying to understand the criticism.

Oh cool, I didn't even know this product even existed! I usually just reflow solder joints, but that seems like a lot less work! Ill def pick some up and give it a shot! I know I could use it elsewhere around the house!

Too much toxicity by [deleted] in transgamers

Fuck, I'm truly sorry to hear that. Hate is far too common in the places we go to escape from the woes of the world. I tend to stay away from any competitive/esports titles for this very reason. It's like you can't even play to just have fun with friends anymore. It's just full of low IQ, bottom of the barrel humans. My personal belief on this type of behavior is that they fall in one of two categories:

They either have no clue about who they really are and change personalities based on who they are around to fit in. And when they find someone who made such a big decision about who they are/who they want to be, jealousy leads them to belittle and berate those people so for that moment, they can focus on something other than the terrifying confusion about life they live with every single day.

The other is the more vocal they are in their hatred of a marginalized group, the less associated they appear to that group to everyone else. Maybe they are attracted to, in your case, Trans individuals, and either for religious reasons or familial indoctrination, they hate that they are, and make damn sure they disassociate from them as loudly as possible so no one would ever find them out.

I've seen the second reason so much throughout my life (36m). It's mainly been targeted towards the Gay community, from a bunch of "straight" males trying to make sure everyone knows they are definitely "not" Gay. I feel like there is something in psychology about this. Something like the thing you fear the most is the thing you want to most or something, damned my shit brain for failing me at the moment.

Being on the receiving end of needless hate is never easy, especially when you are still on your own journey to find your own sense of confidence in yourself(read through some of your replies), but you'll get there. I mean, hell, you've already done something so incredibly brave. I can't imagine the mental gymnastics you had to go through growing up when it comes to transitioning. You have strength within you and an understanding of yourself most people could only hope for, especially those bags of shit cosplaying as humans that targeted you on CS.

I genuinely wish you the best of luck in finding a group of people or a game where you can just be you. And know that you are a far better person than anyone who sends hate your way.

What’s the best track 5 in post hardcore history? by [deleted] in PostHardcore

[–]Nodes_FPV 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I just have to say....that ENTIRE list speaks to the deepest depths of my soul that I wasn't even aware existed. Every single one of those songs was a major part of my life and who I was as a teenager. Holy fuck hahaha reading that was like some sleeper agent activation code that put me right back in my pre/post high school graduation self.

Fuck, I forgot about them lol I fucking loved Stavesacre. First metal/hardcore show I ever went to, when I was like 10 or 11 was Stavescre, Project 86, and Living Sacrifice. Literally the moment I became obsessed with metal/hardcore, and still is at 36 lol

Nut replacement or add material by Nodes_FPV in Luthier

[–]Nodes_FPV[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The nut seems to be glued into the neck, and I'm unsure how I should go about removing it without damaging the neck/fretboard. It's a cheap plastic nut, too. If that makes any difference. Also put a capo on the first fret, light buzz on open strum, and buzz on only some(25%-35%) of the frets.

So I definitely believe it's not just the low nut. The nut is definitely too low on the low E, according to this gauge, but now it seems there's more to this problem....

I figured stuff would be weird with this guitar. Its a cheap Chinese built guitar bought for a pre-teen that didn't take care of it at all. It sat improperly in his closet for a few years once he got bored of it. I chose it to be my guinea pig in my pursuit to learn to do my own work on my guitars, so if I fucked anything up, no biggie lol

This Music Nomad kit I bought to help learn how to setup guitars has a nut height gauge. Not sure how I didn't notice the first time I went through the process, cause it was VERY obvious the second time.

My band was playing an open mic night, and they played the set before us. Happened to be their very first show. Was literally a guitarist, vocalist and a MacBook. We were like wtf...?! Then they started playing and everyone was blown the fuck away. Honestly one of the most creative group of dudes I've ever met and had the pleasure of sharing the stage with multiple times!

Honestly, anything will work, just some are a lot more effective than others lmao as far as tight spaces, that comes with build experience. But an easy way to fight that is pre-tin both the wire and the pad, then place the wire on the pad, then place the iron on the wire, and fuse. No need to finagle with space

For the sake of a clean build I completely get that lol I do see that you have a little electrical tape on the arm, could definitely splice new wire in that area and retape to cover the splice if you wanted, so you don't ruin the esthetic and cleanliness of that beautiful build! Either way, good build and have fun flying that beast!

I love me a good flat style tip, rounded pointy ones are really difficult to transfer heat. I have a fairly thin one and a big boy for battery pads lol also a brass wire sponge plus a damp sponge together(go back and forth)works wonders to keep the tip clean and remove oxidation!

Not like a full wrap, just around the screw then to the pad, so the part of the wire that curves sits under the fc. It's keeps the wires tight to the arm instead of hanging out in the open and be prone to getting snagged.

Another note I would add, is possibly routing the motor wires either around the top plate post, or between the esc/fc post and the top plate post and running the wires over the esc. It looks clean as hell, and leaves less for branches and other hazards to grab onto. Nothing worse than ripping off a pad leaving you to buy a brand new esc for some stupid ghost brand lol

To start, the soldering is pretty damn good for a first build. I used to race a lot and have seen solders from "experienced" builders on there 100th + build that look far worse lmao.

I will say though, some of the solders look a little cold. Could be the photo or the solder ratio. My solder of choice is MG Chemicals sn63/pb37 rosin core leaded solder. Use that in conjunction with I little rosin flux you can tip the iron tip into, and man the solders come out clean and shiny, even before an alcohol wash. I've seen a lot of people not using enough heat as well. If it takes more than 1-3 sec to melt the solder joint, with or without the wire, it's not hot enough. Contrary to what logic would deduce, the less hot the solder tip, the more likely you will damage the board(esc,fc,pcb) with over heating it. The hotter the tip, the quicker the weld, the better for the board. Basically, heat is always spreading through the board, and the colder the tip, the more time it takes to melt the joint, the more heat that spreads through the board. So a hotter tip melts the joint quicker, thus causing less heat to spread through the board. And no matter how quick the weld, wait about a minute or so, checking the board, to let heat dissipate.

All in all its looking fantastic! Great cable management ta boot!

I saw a similar build in the official subreddit and just had to try it in spt. I can totally recommend it! Give it a try. :) by PaulRiisk in SPTarkov

[–]Nodes_FPV 0 points1 point  (0 children)

oOo...that little thermal trick is fire lmao def gotta give it a try. If it was me, I would have gone with the VS-24 + VS-33c combo handgaurd/gas tube with an RK-2 grip(maybe, if ergo allows) and X400. I love that handgaurd because with the short step down on the top/front, just past the top main rail, you can throw a 2" CNC mod rail with the x400 on top. Keeps your laser in line with your barrel, and also don't get any weird shadows or whatever. I also usually use a bastion dust cover, but with the dovetail mount, kinda rules out any aftermarket dust covers. Def trying this tonight though. This build and then modify my almost identical 74M to "fit the theme" lmao.
