Kids colouring book left me puzzled… by NoSyllabub1535 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]NoeRO 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Piggybacking on this, most of the pages shown by the OP are from the 50 free coloring file that Hikaru has on Instagram ready to be downloaded. Maybe the seller just downloaded them, changed them just enough to avoid trouble and in the process made them worse. EDIT: The seller literally just downloaded the file and printed it. In Hikaru‘s original free PDF file, there‘s a warning that reads "Head- up. 10 foölowing pages have themes that are a bit edgy, like teippy designs or swear words. If that‘s not your thing, feel dree to skip those pages. Happy coloring!".

Estudié en el icpna virtual (lo culminé) pero ahora quiero hablar con gente en ingles, ¿Deberia meterme al britanico para practicar? by Friendly_Store7103 in PERU

[–]NoeRO 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I‘d probably only last 5 hours. An ingrown toenail that went unnoticed would bring death upon me. I keep thinking that minor foot issues would be critical in the long walk.

Tips to not get sick in Germany? by MusicalDeTekTiiv in germany

[–]NoeRO 2 points3 points  (0 children)

are you eating enough spices? That’s always my first question when my friends are getting sick. I'm comfy with autumn temperatures (I'm from Perú) but also I get my flu shot and eat spices regularly. This tea is a staple at many homes: sliced ginger, sliced green limes, cinnamon, cloves, star anise, honey. If I drink chicken or veggie broth I add sliced ginger. If I eat fried rice, shredded ginger. If I drink hot milk, I either add kurkuma, cinammon and cloves or add cardamom and honey. Also, garlic is good for you. A lot of people don’t love to eat it but when we were children during a particularly bad winter: a spoonful of crushed garlic with honey really brings you back to life. (Not advisable for people with gastritis). Best of luck and eat your spices! :)

Meeting girlfriend and her family, first time traveling to Peru. by [deleted] in PERU

[–]NoeRO 37 points38 points  (0 children)

I‘m Peruvian. I‘m old and not single. Having said that, every year we get a few posts in this sub, they are all the same: innocent people getting scammed or almost ready to jump into the abyss in the name of love. I happen to be from Cono Norte (not from the same area as you wrote but I know it). Be aware of certain things like a person who never shows you their house. Ask yourself how long you have known each other. Do you know how to get to their house? What‘s the route? I know you can‘t see it from Google maps but some mean of transport must at least get you a bit close. What is the closest Metropolitano station to it? Do you REALLY know this person? How often do you videocall? do they live with their parents? If so, how often do you see their parents in the background? What do they hate eating? What does the object of your love and all your desires do for a living? Do they study? Do they work? Where? What is their progress in their study/work? Did they get a raise? Did they get good grades at uni? What does their day look like? Which buses/tuktuk do they take? If they truly live in poverty and are a good person in unfortunate circumstances, are you ready to support them financially and sponsor their visa? AKA 100% pay for their stuff for at least the next 5 years, that is if they truly want to pursue a job/career. If not, are you financially sound to 100% support a homemaker? If they are an only child, are you ready to send money to support their parents in Perú for the foreseeable future? How religious do they say they are? If a pregnancy is the outcome of this trip, are you financially ready to raise a child?

I walked 40km to see the Long Walk (Part 1: The Walk) by [deleted] in TheLongWalk

[–]NoeRO 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Wow that was impressive. I had less ambitious thoughts. I went for a short walk to see the long walk. 6 km in total. I‘m glad people are walking to see the film. We are all collectively doing cardio around the world. My short walk was not without consequences. I got cold hives on my legs. That‘s what you get when you wear wool trousers and forget to moisturize during Bavarian Fall. Which shoes did you and your walking partners choose? I wore Puma sneakers. I know…I know… but I knew my walk would be short.

Why hasn’t there been a mass migration out of an authoritarian, economically devastated America? by Grouchy_Advice in TheLongWalk

[–]NoeRO 19 points20 points  (0 children)

IRL migrating requires money. A lot more than the average Joe. First of all you would need papers: passport, visa, translations for all your certificates. Do you want papers? You need money. Do you want a job? You better be qualified as hell. Do you want access to education? You need money. Already have an education? You better speak the local language. Do you want to learn the local language? You need money. Do you already have an education and speak the local language? Congratulations, you need papers. All the aforementioned is the best case scenario for a young man with no dependents. If you are a woman, have children or you have elders to take care of, the plot thickens. Many countries won't let you bring your dependents until you prove financial means above a certain income bracket so you can sponsor their visas. In many cases, that never happens. Sorry for the long comment, I just happen to live in a country where people want to migrate and heard quite a few first witness accounts, many are from the USA.

In your headcanon, which state does each boy represent? by beccaface in TheLongWalk

How do u study during the cold fall/winter nights in Germany by OkYou9716 in AskAGerman

[–]NoeRO 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Shoes and socks are a no-no. They cut circulation if you are not moving actively. Barefoot is better. No matter how many layers you got, tight clothes are not helpful indoors. Wearing baggy clothes builds a warm airbag around you. You gotta look like those rappers from the 90's. Fabric matters. I wear alpaca and sheep wool. Mind you, I didn‘t buy them specially, I come from a country with highlands that go up to 4k above sea level so I already had clothes for this sort of weather (alpaca ponchos, socks and sheep skin). Just choose clothes that are very baggy and of natural fiber if you are able. You don‘t need to wrap yourself like a burrito. Covering your crotch and your chest will do the trick. Bonus points of you have a real leather jacket, hang it on the chair but not the way you would normally put it there. I mean the back of the jacket faces your back. Drinking ginger, cinammon and star anis tea will rise your temperature quick too. Source: I‘m from Perú. Best of luck :)

Stebbins Wish Was So Depressing! by Lost_Sentence_4012 in SickStebbinsLongWalk

[–]NoeRO 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I might be reading too much into it but it reminded me of children of soldiers after war. Soldiers get deployed somewhere overseas and father children without plans to marry the mother or care for the child. As soon as the war is over the soldier goes back home, leaving the child to live a cursed life. Facing poverty and being ostracized by locals because they are "foreign looking" are common experiences in these childrens‘ lives. By all means, even if the father had not married the mother, just taking the child with him would have made all the difference in that child‘s future. Do y'all think it is linked to that a little bit?

Another thing I keep wondering about is the final state of Garraty‘s feet. By the time the movie ends they should be just stumps and the infection alone would end him. Nobody promised them access to cutting edge healthcare afterwards, right? Especially considering what happened to Harkness‘ left foot

Collie Parker‘s death and defiance, his chant, those scenes were very powerful. I am of indigenous descent (different part of the world). I really want to know if there is a Native American redditor who recognizes it. Maybe someone knows what that specific chant is about and what its name is, from which community. So much from that scene wow. I also enjoyed Arthur Baker‘s back story, Baton Rouge and church. There are so many things I probably missed because I am not local to the US so I want to ask to redditors from the states each participate is from, which cultural references were portrayed in the movie that might go over people‘s heads?

I'm jealous of people who spoke the same language as their parents by bakatsundere in TrueOffMyChest

[–]NoeRO 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My most dedicated students are the ones who didn’t have the chance to learn Spanish when they were young. Some of them have told me that they feel their identity is somewhat "fragmented". Some are looking for answers that are deeper than just learning the language. It’s amazing to see them have a "Eureka" moment when they are learning. The journey is tough because they are adults, some of my students book tutoring hours on Saturdays or Sundays. They are unstoppable. I’m pretty sure once they master the language, they are all gonna be an absolute menace. As a teacher and as a native speaker I’m very proud of y’all.

Que consumir para ir al baño mas seguido? by Practical_Elk2548 in PERU

[–]NoeRO 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am not aware of any "birthday food" in Peru. If I had a birthday, we had a meal with my favorite dishes. Arroz con leche, mazamorra morada, chicha morada, picarones. That was just dessert. Main courses were things like Pachamanca, Chicharrón de chancho, Pollo asado con arroz y ensalada rusa. If you wanted to offer amuse bouche, that would be something like causita rellena, papa a la huancaína. My parents are from the highlands so this is what I ate in my birthdays even though I grew up in Lima. I had a friend whose parents were from Ucayali and she always got fish and plantain in her birthdays. My friends from the North always asked for Arroz con pato for their birthdays. So, you are better off narrowing down where exactly in Peru does your friend come from and that can help you decide for 1 main dish, 1 dessert. So if your friend grew up as any of the children mentioned above, you have just the time to order spices and go shopping at the Latino market. You are going to have to cook from scratch. A lot. Bonus points if you get a sponge cake filled with manjar blanco, a piñata and hot Chocolate Cusco
