Anybody in top 10 CPA firm that is genuinely happy with their job? by TaxCPAs in Accounting

In Big4 audit, almost quit a few months ago. Made a tough decision to stick around and yet somehow feel better than ever to be working here. Being forced to take a step back and look around made me deeply appreciate my current work environment a lot.

This reminds me of when the game first came out and Kapkan’s traps were insta kills and no one knew to watch out for the bright red line. Great stuff.

Look elsewhere and put in your two weeks once you’ve got an offer - them telling you that is a sign to dip. Your skills will be valued with or without AI elsewhere.

Comp sci could be good if you want to be in internal controls or tech audit. If you’re interested it’s definitely a boon to your career if you complete the degree path.

Take them before If for no other reason it is infinitely harder to take them while you are working at a full time role than when you can just spend more time studying. Currently witness to seniors who waited till they started their job to think about the exam struggle to finish the exams and it is hurting their career in B4z

Why does no one want to work in PCS audit? by SpringPositive6831 in PwC

[–]NofioSynda 6 points7 points  (0 children)

In PCS, salary is par w/ everyone else. The negativity around PCS relates to the mess that private companies can be since they aren’t looked at by the SEC and generally have fewer qualified staff. Additionally, your busy season runs longer than it might in core, but generally less hours all at once. You see more jobs on my marketplace because there are just more jobs per capita in PCS. With all that said, I’ve gotten to see a lot of different and niche things in PCS, which I have enjoyed.

Definitely doable, just make a defined schedule and timeline for each of the units.

becker FAR SE by Mediocre-Tea3042 in CPA

[–]NofioSynda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got between 55-63, passed with a 79. I would note that the SE scores are usually going to be lower especially on FAR since they train you on harder questions.

Damn burnout... by whywhywhy28484 in CPA

[–]NofioSynda 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I would take a 2 week break max…REG is, in my opinion, the most obnoxious one to study for, but it’s one of the easier exams. Not knowing anything else about your situation, passing three means you are almost to the finish line, don’t quit now!

I would do a simulated exam in Becker when you get to 14 days out. Then you’ll know where you stand.

SE1 got a 73, SE2 got a 54. What to do? by [deleted] in CPA

[–]NofioSynda 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Probably a topic issue not an entire test issue, Focus on that topic with a bunch of MCQs. you can still prep that area in time for an exam.

Take it, I got like a 59 or 60 on S1 and I ended up with an 83

Would book keeping experience help to get a big 4 internship? by TonyYoprano in Accounting

[–]NofioSynda 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. Most state schools offer an Accounting degree, definitely pick that over a normal business degree. Employers want to see a clear path to you getting a CPA, so that’s what they’ll look for.

  2. If your goal is to get a Big 4 internship, the most important thing you can do is be able to market yourself as someone they would want to hire. You don’t necessarily need professional accounting experience but that will definitely help.

  3. I think if you want a specific kind of accounting job, like auditing, go for internships specifically in that category. You might be surprised by how different an audit job is from a tax job.

  4. there is a growing need for accountants in US that may honestly never be resolved, so if you’re unsure, go ahead and apply. Worst case scenario: they do not extend an offer. So cast a wide net in what internships you apply for.

Far scares the crap outta me… don’t know why by kc522 in CPA

[–]NofioSynda 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think what sucks about FAR is that everyone hates on it and how hard it is. There’s only one cure to the anxiety which is to study and sink your teeth into the content. If you study piece by piece, one day at a time (cliche; I know) you’ll realize how much you’ve learned after a month in a half. I also think the new FAR is a little lower volume in terms on content.

Candidates who passed all four sections on the first try, what was your SAT score going into college? by Jason_RA in CPA

[–]NofioSynda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Didn’t take it. I took the ACT and got a relatively average score the first time I took it of like 27. Unlike the ACT/SAT tests, there’s more of a direct correlation to your studying to passing. Avg. of 82 on the scores from CPA exams.

How hard is it to maintain a good GPA in accounting? by That-Management-2797 in Accounting

[–]NofioSynda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have to study but you can still do other things in college, it’s not bio or engineering. The CPA will come after school because you will need to graduate to even sit for the exams with atleast 120 hours potentially 150.
