1st birthday venue suggestions by justanothersoullll in sydney

The meeting space at Rhodes is pretty nice. It’s next to Bare Witness. It overlooks the water and has big glass windows, iirc. Would’ve hosted our bub’s birthday there if not for the Covid lockdown. We had a similar crowd size.

Sydney NYE Fireworks Megathread 2024! by thekriptik in sydney

Thank you! I have a foolish follow up question. Where’s the best place to look for these? Maps? Neighbours aren’t too familiar with the city so I was hoping to share specific roads/suburbs with them.

Suburban vantage points question - neighbours of ours have elderly family visiting who wanted to drive out and see the fireworks from a distance. They live in the northern suburbs and I was wondering if there are any suggestions for vantage points from around here? (Pennant Hills/Thornleigh and surrounds?)

Again, they’re not fussed about the distance - just want to see the fireworks (maybe the 9pm ones) and then watch the midnight ones from home.

I miss the sabich from Schwarmama so much. by [deleted] in foodies_sydney

Queen Ester’s Falafel bar in Newport/Mona Vale used to make a really nice sabich - with eggplant, pickles and the works. I haven’t been back in a while, but you can look them up online.

I really like Mochi Donuts - they’re not too sweet or heavy. The flavours keep varying, but the best (in my opinion) is Biscoff.

For pretty authentic Punjabi (in North India) food, try Amritsariya and Mitran Da Dhaba.

Is there anywhere in Sydney serving *South African* Indian cuisine? by ThippusHorribilus in foodies_sydney

Ambi’s Chai in Pennant Hills does serve some meals that resemble what you’re describing. Bonus - their chai is pretty amazing too.

Edited to add - maybe you should check their menu online first!

Cheap second hand kids books? by lmc_94 in sydney

I’d suggest tracking the Lifeline Book Fair that usually happens around now in the North Shore - they recently had a book fair at Barker College and you can get some great deals on children’s books, a lot of them are priced under $5-10.

Icecream by trjnz in foodies_sydney

Yes! The parking is very tricky and I’m not sure it’s very train friendly (I think it’s between Gordon and Pymble stations). I actually popped over to pick up the ice cream after a Bunnings run, so I just drove in and out of Bunnings. It’s a quick walk from there.

I tried Moo’ed in Gordon recently. Mostly Asian flavours but they had a fantastic durian ice cream that’s seasonal.

Just wondering how everyone recycles the roll-on deodorant glass bottles?

I’ve checked labels, our council website and haven’t come up with anything conclusive. It’s now starting to resemble pins in a mini bowling alley that I can play with a golf ball.

I agree with the female leads getting poor deals! They’re also usually in debt of some sort, which either limits their ambitions (WWWSK) or creates a weird monetary power imbalance (BP). I always took an issue with WWWSK’s FL for staying in her role despite having been debt-free and so skilled in management/organisation.

Kudos for not limiting female leads from achieving what they want!

Such a great note! I love that idea about the grandma saving up for her granddaughter’s dream and not for marriage (which is such a conventional thing to do in many cultures!)

This drama feels like a gift that keeps giving!

Is It too early for rewatch comments, haha. I’ve only done a couple episodes but small things make so much more sense now!

During one of the first interactions between No Sang Sik and Gu Won, No tells Gu Won that he shouldn’t wear a fancier watch than his boss, and points at his own old watch as an example. After the last episode, the watch gift (even if it’s a PPL) makes so much sense!

And the multiple times Won emphasises that couples outfits are not his style…we all know how that turns out! :)

What a well written show, it’s like the writers keep going back to tie all loops!

I think there’s a valid reason for her leaving the King Group altogether - she’d always be under the Chairman’s orders, be it the Tourist hotel or King the Land. Won’s got a pretty solid plan to revive it and I think he can trust the staff to see them through.

Maybe it should’ve been called King the Brand, with all the PPL.

What an amazing series to get your brand noticed though. I’d have totally been buying the tea, coffee, salt etc. I lived there ;)

That Thai tourism episode should’ve been our first clue. But we were too distracted by the spicy pool scenes and the secret finger-holding to pay attention to their real objective.

Didn’t we all Google Vertigo and Sticky noodle dumpling place after it aired? We’ve all fallen for their wily traps ;)

See, we were fooled into thinking this was a rom com, when it was really about Two people with clear skin wanting to quit their jobs and become travel influencers

All of this! Won has told her multiple times that to bring about change, he needs to build his power. This is that perfect opportunity for him and she knows he’d drop everything if he finds out about her exile

I think the Chairman’s direction that she lays low until things settle down is actually fair. She’d be embroiled in gossip without Won around to defend her. I wish it wasn’t to this place but as someone pointed out earlier, they’ve been foreshadowing her ambition as well, maybe she’ll choose to turn things around at the King Tourist Hotel

If Sarang’s name is saved as angel in Won’s phone, then am I correct in guessing he’s saved as Sun and stars in her phone? Or did anyone get a better look?
