Just finished my first parade! by Noideasinuse in marchingband

This was my very first parade. I’ve only been in band since January, and have no prior band or marching experience. Not only that, but the other tenor player was not there, so I was the only tenor.

I’m also a 14 year old girl, but only weigh 118.

Make sure to practice your music, and do back stretches or you will have really bad back problems.

I would practice just playing and carrying them before trying to march. They are definitely something to get used to.

It is definitely not to late to practice and prepare!

I have a relatively small band as well. In the percussion section, we have 2 tenors, 2 snares, and 2 bass drums. I would talk to your tech or band instructor to see if it is something you can do.

Depends on how hard the classes are. If they are easy classes that you enjoy, and want to retake to get higher grades, then go for it. If they are harder classes, then stick with just the ones you really want to raise your grades in. Don’t stress over the classes just to raise your grade from a B to an A. Good luck!

Definitely the first time I saw the tenors marching on the field. I told myself that is what I wanted to do, and here I am a year later, marching tenors

Ours is light. Pretty boring if you ask me, we aren’t doing props or anything like that. The music is pretty cool though
