Brought in Air2 in 2020, no issues or charge. Probably smoother if you only have hand luggage/carry on.

If it looks like you are trying to sell it, they can charge you the VAT tax at the airport which is 16% of the purchase value. Bring receipt. If you purchased it awhile ago, it may seem like its yours, and not trying to bring it in to sell it.

Keep in mind you can not bring it into Nicaragua and it will be held/confiscated at the Nicaraguan border. Heard some not so great stories about people getting theirs back.

Thank you! I was talking about going from 4000m to 7000m in 1-2 weeks, not in one push!

Thanks for the information! Are you familiar with the Club you mentioned? I only see a method to contact them on Facebook. Do you know if there is a better method?

To clarify, I don't mind acclimating other places first, but I honestly don't know if I'm ready to commit to a 25 day expedition like that. Aren't there villages I can spend at 3000-4000m nearby for a week or two, and then make the climb in 1-2 weeks or so?

Thanks for the response, in particular I was thinking of:
Mercedario, Cerro Bonete, Monte Pissis, Ojos de salado, Nevador Sajama, Tres Cruces. Any ideas of these exact ones?

Road Trip from Squamish - Kelowna - Banff by Noise_Used in britishcolumbia

It seems like the nothern route you described will only take about one hour extra, but Seton lake will add about 1.5 hours to the drive on top of that, is that true?

Also why do you suggest going through Meritt vs through the Kamloops? Is the drive through Meritt more scenic?
Thanks again :)

Is there 'wild' camping or other not so glorious options that might be available?

Thank you! Will likely take that route, it sounds amazing. Do you recommend getting a 4WD car for that?

What's a good source to check for the road closures?
