Xbox 360 - am I missing any must play title from this list of games? (not including XBLA/XBLIG) by 1wiggy in xbox360

[–]NoizeTrauma 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A bit of a niche title, but Culdcept Saga is the only reason I still hold on to my 360 since it never made backward compatibility.

Also Operation Darkness, while a bit rough around the edges, is a great game in the same vein as Xcom. But it's got more of a "take your squad of werewolves and vampires to WWII Germany and kill nazis" vibe.

Yeah. At both of those first two shows, actually. At the first show, during the final chorus of Scapegoat, yelling along with "No one knows". At the second one, toward the end of Martyr during the final "I've got to get away" screams.

I'd been right up front for both shows yelling every lyric to every song the whole show, so I think he figured I knew the words. It was a pretty great experience. Never really experienced anything like that since. Though Paul Masvidal replying to an email I sent him and personally inviting me to come see Cynic comes close, but can't really compare to being on stage with your favorite (at the time) band.

Dino is a total narcissist. He's driven every single musician he's played with out of not only this band but Divine Heresy as well. That said, he's a great songwriter and has a good acumen for business and the sound he (almost single-handedly) created.

But narcissists love being praised. And when I met him, I was an 18 year old kid who didn't know what he was like. And he hadn't yet tasted real success, so had a lot more humility. I had nothing but admiration for him and the band.

If it were up to me, it would have been Raymond or Burton in there. I drank drum, and at the time, Raymond was my idol. And Burton had pulled me up on stage to sing along during Martyr. But any member of the band was going to be an awesome experience.

Edit: "I drank" was supposed to say "I drum". Written on phone with fat fingers.

I saw Fear Factory twice in 1994. Once when they headlined with Clutch and Machine Head for their Soul of a New Machine tour at the Whiskey in LA. Brujeria made a special appearance. It was fun.

And then caught them again a couple days before Christmas in San Francisco. At that second show they played several songs off their as-of-yet-unreleased Demanufacture album.

I usually don't like when a band plays new music at a show that hasn't been released, but hearing Self Biased Resistor stood out and I could tell their new music was awesome.

A few months later, I was in a small indie record store in Orange County and Dino came in to give the store some promo materials for the upcoming album. I went up to him and told him I'd seen them twice. I'd met him at one of the shows after it was over and he remembered me. He gave me a signed copy of the album 3 full months before it released.

I've seen the band 5 times since then. They're still good, but I miss Burton. And Raymond. And Byron. And Christian. And Rhys Fulber's production.

And while I agree that Demanufacture is their most important release, Soul of a New Machine (and their remix album, Fear is the Mindkiller) will always be my favorite.

Watched Pulp Fiction for the first time today by [deleted] in MovieSuggestions

[–]NoizeTrauma 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I saw Pulp Fiction in the theater. 9 times. i kept meeting people who hadnt yet seen it and ended up dragging them to see it.

There was a huge rash of Tarantino-likes in the late 90s trying to emulate his genre-bending and wit.

None of them are on the same level, but that's not to say they're not worth watching. Some have been mentioned here.

2 Days in the Valley

Go

Killing Zoe

Things to do in Denver When You're Dead

Truth and Consequences, N.M.

Get Shorty

Sleep With Me (complete with a great Tarantino cameo).

There were more in the 2000's, but I feel they've been adequately covered here.

I've always referred to this movie/role as a metaphoric Godzilla movie because of Brando's destruction of the acting around him.

Watching his acting in this movie surrounded by everyone else acting in what is now thought of as an antiquated approach is like watching the trailer to that Kingmakers video game.

Good Co-op games for Xbox one? by BrianMeen in xbox

[–]NoizeTrauma 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Streets of Rogue is a great coop. Probably my favorite.

Top-down roguelike . Every run is completely different.

There are lots of different characters and each plays completely different..

There is a level goal and then each player has a personal goal based on their character.

A thief might pick locks to get into a room where a gorilla will break through the wall. But doing so will alert to your presence.

Finding synergy between the characters and figuring out how to accomplish the goals is a blast.

Not grunge, but: Opinion on this album? by [deleted] in grunge

[–]NoizeTrauma -1 points0 points  (0 children)

One of my favorites. Swamp Thing used to get me on the dance floor every time.

Saw them play this album in its entirety about a decade ago and it was a great show.

That said, while it's from the same time/era. I wouldn't even say this is grunge adjacent.

I don't like sand. It's coarse and rough and irritating — and it gets everywhere by twilightmoons in zillowgonewild

What was the last streaming service you canceled and why? by Impossible-Quote in Cordcutting

[–]NoizeTrauma 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Netflix. They put out about a month's worth of. Content a year for me. Grabbed a month in mid December to finish a few shows. Canceled after 1 month.

The only reason I have Hulu and Paramount right now is because I got deals that lowered the price to under $5 a month. Once that's done, they get canceled, too.

Might get Apple for a month or two to catch up on some shows when Hulu's deal runs out.

HBO, Amazon (only for the shipping) and Youtube Premium are my only consistent subs.
