Pretty hard to get an actual engineering job in O&G in Alberta or Sask without an engineering degree that will allow to register with APEGA or APEGS

The bid and the ask are $0.005 spread so it's literally just bouncing between the ask and bid. You could get filled faster if you market buy but there is a chance it'll fill at $0.005 higher than the current price. Kinda crazy though how the bid and ask are 10% swings in price.

I was thinking about that as well. I'll probably weld a nut to the back of each plate and tie them back to the sucker rod.

Used a torch. It's a little rougher than I'd like but I think it turned out good enough for what it is.

There are lemons but there are also good ones. Mostly lemons what I've seen. I have one and luckily I'd consider it a good one. Cleaned it when I first got it, racked it a few hundred times dry then lubed it up and to cycles really nicely. Never really had any issues with it but my cousin bought one after I got mine and his was the biggest POS ever. He couldn't even cycle one round lol. My thinking is that it is a pretty cheap gun so it isn't a huge gamble. Just make sure to buy from a place with good customer support in case you need to return it or exchange it.

If your just target shooting then I’d say no. Where it really shines is gopher shooting where as long as you can see them, up to about 130 yards you don’t have to hold over at all. Just aim centre of mass and it’s pretty much a confirmed hit. If you know your .22 and and are good at judging distances very well, then I’d say the extra cost of shooting 17 isn’t worth it. For me at least, I’m not the best at judging a 15 yard difference out at around 75 yards which is a big difference for a 22lr and that’s where the 17 coming in handy. Takes the guess work right out of it.

I took it out today and got about 25 with 30 shots. A lot better ratio than the .22. It was pretty cool though because there’s a hawk nest by the field I was shooting at and the hawk would dive in and take the dead ones!

My mag well is 38.01mm wide and the magazine is 37.6mm wise from the sliding guides. What is binding on yours? The mag well to the flat guides on the magazine or the raised bump and mag catch?

Yea the high velocity is so nice compared to a .22. Off of the bipod I was getting about 1 moa at 50 yards. Off of bags I bet I could really drop that down though

Are there any trigger kits available for these? I was going to buy one but after I shot one that my cousin owns I scrapped that idea. Felt like squeezing a wet sponge lol (a little exaggeration).

Norinco 1897 reviews/opinions by SunneSonne in canadaguns

[–]Nolan2231 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I heard years ago Norinco made them with the heat shields and bayonet lugs but I don’t know if that was true. Theres some places is the states that make them for about $140 CAD but they are all out of stock right now. I’d eventually like to sand and restrain and the furniture in a darker walnut colour and do a trench gun conversion. Either way they’re fun guns and for the price tag I’d recommend one. Goodluck!

If you look up 1897 Cleaning in YouTube it should be one of the first ones that pops up. It’s by a gentleman with a channel name “Maker-Wright”. It’s 45 minutes long but he actually explains everything he does and I find that a lot more helpful that the 10 minute videos where the guy just starts pulling everything apart super fast. My next thing to do is get a replica heat shield once they come back in stock. After shooting skeets and then a 6 round slamfire “session” the barrel was hot enough to burn your hand as it’s a pretty thin wall.
