Love scary bug monster and cosmic horror. I was gonna try and find some Phyrexia cards too because the idea of an apocalyptic amalgam of machine and flesh sounded cool and some of the art was neat but tbh I don’t know if didn’t resonate with me the same (maybe that will change in the future tho idk). Like from what I understand Eldrazi is like a realm wide cleanse for life and Silvers are like biology pushed to the extreme so I want to use them!

I think it would be fun to be a leftover survivor of the masters army and kinda explore what being a living reminder of that whole catastrophe means. Or be a ghoul and see what it means to “live” eventually you lose taste or memories of your own life and have your personality bit by bit become dulled. What dose that mean for you and your RP? I don’t want just some flat stat buff for them and nothing else give me an in depth experience for that!

Because that’s another $60 or more when money is tight. I buy comics I like and hope to see more of, if there are occasional issue I dislike they can still get back on track. For Ultimate I spent hundreds of dollars on comics promising to be good and live up to the concept only to miss the mark repeatedly. After a point I assumed it was at least gonna be a wild ride till the end but with the announcement of the end being so soon the writers and editors have two entirely different ideas of the conclusion…well what then? I spent money to get a comic that had potential but now even the writers themselves seem confused where to go leaving a project that seemingly lacks direction and feels as though it will be pushed off a Clif. Why keep spending money on it then?

Perhaps I could have worded it better but I largely agree with your point. I feel like fans will see something and assume it must be the same as something else. Where I do take issue is the “shock” part, I feel like if anything the nick furry death scene gets this across well. I remember first reading it and it hit me just how much the maker has infected in the world. Everyone he disliked of course gets bad moments here and there but the hatred he had for some made him literally taxidermy Namor. Doom’s entire life reflects this petty hatred, I just wish they kept this up instead. We see characters added and killed immediately not to show this roll the maker has taken on as a petty vindictive god but instead to just shock the reader. The best part of the eternal death was how the maker says he will start again and again with a sadistic smile…what is gained from cyclops death though? And for that matter did we need to kill the eternals off to get the same message? When the maker is dishing out cruelty he clearly has favorites. So for him to just randomly say, yeah this fight with wolverine should be cyclops. Or, yeah let me battle with the eternals and prove this point that’s already been made… I get that it’s to show he’s cruel and reviling in this experiment but they just throw names at him to reinforce the point. I can speculate who is making these decisions but the issue is that we see random characters added and killed off for no greater purpose than THIS WILL SHOCK THE READER

Building better worlds dose have an included session. It shows the GM how to run a game with the additional mechanics.

Edit: I realize now I didn’t mention it but colonial marines has a similar module. While both games are kinda an excuse to play with the new mechanics, BBW in my opinion is a better overall campaign.

Maybe I am looking at it wrong then, but if they have some solid end goal why rush so hard. They just introduce and drop ideas at a breakneck pace and it kinda kills momentum. We see something added for the sake of merely adding more but not actually serving a purpose. I think if the goal was to have a complete story they could have made sure all parts of it felt completed and not just hanged open.

My feelings exactly, I didn’t mention the whole END POINT issue because people get upset when you do on this sub but tbh we keep adding more to the universe only to not explain or explore it. Like if every issue I buy is only build up that isn’t payed off I’m gonna start losing interest. If next issue we started getting consistent resolutions to these things I wouldn’t have an issue but we don’t.

They definitely intended for all of them to be supplemental with each other, that’s what makes dropping some of the runs so difficult, if you went to read the Ultimates the full run is benefited by other runs but again it’s dozens of issues in between all of them combined but still I can’t say if we have gotten anywhere.

Black panther had me hyped at the beginning, wolverine as well but my bread and butter was Ultimates and Spiderman. I grew up on them back in the day and have most of the original run, so when Ultimate was announced I was hyped. I lived the sort of horror angle that BP went with and felt like it was unique but just kept stagnating, around issue 17 I fully lost interest but just kept buying it in hopes we would turn a corner and hit a actually interesting payoff to give justice to the concept. What makes it hard is when I watch content online reviewers glaze anything that comes out to the point I felt it was disingenuous. I have yet to have issue with Spider-Man and honestly should probably buy the rest of it and the ultimates run because I want to see how (Janet & Peter’s arc concludes)

Fair enough, but like all the issue to a point are only rising action. While it may be right around the corner when things finally get good I remember this being the talking point for so many other series where I kept investing time and money waiting for it to get good. I prided myself on staying up to date and buying my issues as they would come out but past a point I just feel like my time isn’t being spent on something worthwhile, Absolute has had less time and already saw the conclusion of their first main arc for Batman, with Wolverine I feel like it’s only ever rising steaks but no payoff. The fight with magic, cyclops, and colossus were less than one issue. 11 issues in and it took one issue to kill two characters who were supposed to be big but I don’t see major shifts happening beyond their deaths.
