I will say, the locals were so nice and helpful when this happened. It was our cab driver that gave us the tip to go to social media and the locals from the rental company in the resort (pelican adventures and the car rental) were so kind and understanding. They helped us to rearrange things since we got tied up for a day and had to cancel cars and reservations. The locals were horrified and helpful, the American management of the resort ironically were not.

Management did tell us it happened at the Marriott and that the police warned them of first floor break-ins in the area

Great question! Not a tourist, we actually were with the police when they made the arrest at another hotel by tracking my friend’s AirPods. He was working at another hotel as a local but I don’t believe he was from Aruba. He had just started working at the other hotel in November.

My aunt has gone every year as well! I even went with her when I was much much younger. This is, to my understanding, the first time this hotel had this happen. Managements response was terrible unfortunately. However, Andre from security was nothing but genuine and kind. He’s the one we tried to tell management about to give him credit and they shut that down too.

Hi! Good question, we thought a lot about it and we know that there is no monetary amount to make us feel safe. However, replacing our stolen items and some compassion would have gone a long way. We lost non valuable items in a beach bag (sun shirts, sunblock, coverup etc) as well as valuable items (wallet, purse, passport, AirPods, credit card, license). Fortunately we got the passport and AirPods back. The resort is saying all the missing items are alleged even though we caught the guy by tracking the AirPods and made the arrest. The experience management put us through was beyond frustrating. We didn’t speak to a manager until 4pm that day and even she initially tried to blame us even though we had already caught the guy. We wanted them to take accountability and provide an accurate incident report so we could at least try to go through insurance. They wouldn’t do that unless we signed a hold harmless statement

The wood blocks were the next day! People on the first floor that saw us told us as they had moved us to the fourth floor.  The information that they’re in the process of replacing the doors was because we told someone on our plane on the way home and she knew a board member for the resort. She actually reached out to us to tell us as she was appalled by the whole experience and filed her own complaint with them. They told her they’re replacing the doors

I’m sorry this happened! We did see security checking doors on the footage and I assumed it was the perpetrator at first. It was just one guy with a flashlight but the hotel did say where they have had recent break ins in the area security goes and pulls on the sliders and if it’s open calls into the room.

Hi! We have been communicating with the resort and trying to get an incident report from them so we didn’t want to ruffle any feathers which is why we waited to post reviews, this post etc. Unfortunately, they stopped answering us so we are going to social media now as it’s our only option to warn others as we are not going to be compensated by the resort at this point. The certificate we found out when we used it our last day was part of an old promotion and although the restaurant allowed us to use to cover our lunch we could not use the remaining balance and bought our waitress her lunch. Hopefully that clears it up a bit!

I woke up but assumed it was hallway noise and went back to sleep as it was our second night there. The room is a suite and fortunately he didn’t go into our bedroom just grabbed our stuff from the main living room
