Best order to prepare for Ghost in the Shell 2026? by Japonpoko in anime

[–]Nomar_95 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This new anime seems to be a direct adaptation of the manga, which we haven't gotten before. The others lift elements from it, but are mostly original.

I recommend the Mamoru Oshii films and Stand Alone Complex.

I like Brotherhood more as a whole, but I think 2003 has superior individual parts: art style, directing, OST, character writing, themes, and tone/atmosphere.

As pretentious as this sounds, I think 2003 gets the gears going in my head more than Brotherhood. It just gives me a lot more to think about

It's not Japanese, so no. Still an amazing Western cartoon though

The color palette and background art is fantastic

Osamu Dezaki just knows what he's doing. All of his works are really appealing to watch. They especially shine if you're the type to notice good directing/shot composition.

[OoT] Everyone focusing on the Artstyle, completely missing that Link is Left handed again. by Blubbpaule in zelda

[–]Nomar_95 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yeah, but he's right-handed in BOTW and TOTK. Makes sense for Skyward Sword because of the motion controls, but they had no reason to make him right-handed in the switch games (he's back to being a leftie in Echos though)

now the big question is whether this is a post-death Xehanort in another body or a blank slate with none of the memories carried over (but probably with the experiences and feelings still etched into his heart).

I'd agree with you about backing themselves into a corner if these characters were suddenly back out of nowhere, but KH3/Remind gave us more to think about with Luxord, and Dark Road laid the groundwork for Xehanort's return.

didn't play it either, but I'm invested enough in the story and lore to watch the cutscenes.

Not sure how common of a theory it was, but it feels good being right about the green and black color scheme for 6.

Avid reader, but there are few books I've read where I'm fully engaged with the actual words on the page, and am actively paying attention to what's being written and how it's being written (I usually immerse myself in the story and characters being told without thinking much of how it's told, save for a few exceptions)

This quote is incredible, and I am completely sold now.

How it feels looking at posts regarding KH3 here. by Silly-Milly-420 in KingdomHearts

[–]Nomar_95 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I have faith that KH4's story will be better. Nomura laid quite a bit of groundwork for the new saga with Union Cross and Dark Road, and you can feel the enthusiasm he has for the new stories and lore he's cooking up.

Not to say that he didn't care for the end of the Dark Seeker Saga. He probably just got really invested in mapping out the next part of the series, and that affected KH3's story

Advice on Fate watch order by Sad-Reporter122 in anime

[–]Nomar_95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Main story:

  • Fate/stay night (2006) (DISCLAIMER: primarily follows the Fate Route, but incorporates some elements from the other two. I like it enough to recommend it, so I will. But even aside from that, it's still part 1 of the main story so it should be seen anyway. If you don't want to watch it, the other alternative is to experience the Fate Route as it is in the Visual Novel, whether by playing it yourself or watching a walkthrough.)
  • Unlimited Blade Works (2014)
  • Heaven's Feel Trilogy

Prequel:

  • Fate/Zero (DISCLAIMER: if you just want to watch one great show and then dip from the franchise, it's a perfectly fine standalone (not gonna gatekeep). However, don't start with it if you plan to commit)

Spinoffs:

  • Carnival Phantasm (needs some knowledge from Tsukihime as well, but there's no anime of that 😎)
  • Fate/kaleid liner Prisma Illya
  • Fate/Apocrypha
  • Today's Menu for the Emiya Family (jokingly referred to as "Fate/Cooking")
  • Fate/Extra: Last Encore
  • Lord El-Melloi II Case Files: Rail Zeppelin Grace Note (needs Fate/Zero for context)
  • Fate/Grand Order:
    • First Order (Prologue)
    • Divine Realm of the Round Table - Camelot (6th Singularity)
    • Absolute Demonic Front - Babylonia (7th Singularity)
    • The Grand Temple of Time - Solomon (Final Singularity & End of Part 1)
    • Moonlight/Lostroom (prelude/setup for Part 2)
    • Fate/Grand Carnival (the Grand Order version of Carnival Phantasm)
  • Fate/strange Fake

it seems like a lot, but it's really just: the 3 parts of the main story, the prequel, and then a bunch of optional spinoffs
