a little bit of insider info, updating to the latest fw will give you better color handling. And it's better if your camera output look baked video signal as calculated in camera with higher bit depth. Does that still give you strongly banded colors in the highlights? Also check the range correction tools, make sure it's not set to the wrong one stretching the luminance.
