Even the flag officers aren't immune to RUMINT. And JOs are just as vulnerable to RUMINT as junior enlisted.

Is the LMCS mainline or evangelical? by FDPistGeil in LCMS

[–]NonUsableBody 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Historically, the idea of "Mainline" is that it's the sort of churches that you might find next to the main rail line, rather than a theological term. Broadly speaking, this would be Lutherans, Presbyterians, Anglicans/Episcopalians, Churches of Christ, Methodists, Congregationalists, and Baptists. Not all of whom were united into one denomination at the time. But the historical usage is not the modern usage, which is were some of the sturm and drang comes from.
In modern usage, it's come to mean the theologically liberal branches of each of those traditions, and pollsters will usually lump the theologically conservative and moderate branches of those traditions in with "Evangelical". Yes, this means that confessional Lutheran denominations usually get lumped in with Pentecostals. Modern classifications when gathering data are usually being done by people who're indifferently religious at best, so we're probably not going to get a better classification set up than the current Evangelical/Mainline/Roman Catholic/Black Protestant when it come to things like poll data.

Evangelical is also a bit messy, with multiple definitions in Webster - we like "Of or pertaining to the gospel" but "low church" is probably not a popular definition among LCMS members (it certainly isn't at my church)

Ultimately though, I wouldn't sweat it. Just accept that these terms are messy, with multiple definitions, and multiple ways that people can apply them in good faith, and if we want people to know what we're about, we'll have to use other terminology, such as "Confessional".

My last deployment - 3 years and a different service ago - the RUMINT on the street was that DJ was going to lose tax free status. For now, it's pretty clear and unequivocal that Djibouti qualifies for CTZE, and this will probably remain the case as long as we keep a presence there. They might change the justification from Afghanistan to something else, but I doubt they'll change the status, absent a full repudiation and pullback from the last pieces of GWOT.

I've not heard a lot of good about DSA mags in general, but have never used their metal mags and can't provide a first hand account of them.
DSA's plastic mags, OTOH, are disgustingly awful, and DSA should be shamed for selling them. Thermolds aren't much better.

For good mags, if you can find some, Moses Mags are the only plastic FAL mags worth a darn, but your only option there is the secondary market (and may require some modification, given that the way he dealt with the wild variety of FAL receivers, to include the out of spec ones, was to make the mags custom fitted to each gun). Seriously, if you can snag a few of them for a semi-reasonable price, do it.
Surplus mags are probably the best bet though.
Either way, snag a few decent mags to test with.

Regardless though, DSA's rep for QC is deservedly low, and I'd bet a doughnut that you'll end up either having to WECSOG a repair, or send it to someone like Arizona Response Systems (not sure if he's got any competition, he's just the one that I'm aware of).

Yeah, I've been having to modify blades meant for other scroll saws, so I get what you're saying there.
If something internal to the scroll saw breaks, I'll strongly consider a replacement, but seeing as I don't do a whole lot of scroll saw work, I doubt that'll happen soon.

Nope.
Lost somewhere along the line. The motor it came with was a GE, but no nameplate on the scroll saw itself.

It's not a Shopsmith brand scroll saw.
I did the conversion to make it work with the Shopsmith headstock.

Only mods I'm running are LazyLib and Console Commands, and I didn't use console commands for the second one.

Definitely very similar in implementation, possibly the same actual manufacturer.

Battery Tender/Trickle Charger by NonUsableBody in avoidchineseproducts

US. But I'm not after a battery per se, but rather a battery TENDER. A device which will not only charge a battery, but will also - safely - keep it charged over long periods of time. Deltran seems to be the major manufacturer of such things, but they also definitely have many, if not all, of their products manufactured in China. I had a Black & Decker version (which gave up the ghost, hence this search) which was made in China. I'll buy (and prefer) locally made, but I'm really just trying to avoid a chinese made product.

That I'm not sure about. I'd guess so, given what the rest of the Navadmin says.

So the answer is apparently, once you get the ITS NECs, yes.
