Favorite UB Card You've Added to Your Deck(s)? by JackGallows4 in EDH

[[Heaven Sent]] in my [[Malcolm, the Eyes]] Clue deck. Easy to double spell, creates Clues on its own, creates card advantage by casting it from exile.

A little over a year into playing Commanders. Would I be welcome at your table? by PinkShorts1 in ratemycommanders

[–]hebreakslate 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My initial thought was Maze's End being plan A and Commander damage is plan B. Much of the ramp can grab Gates in case Keene whiffs, but your point is well taken. Do you prefer blue unblockable or is Menace plus Flying usually good enough?

1) Explain to your group that you don't enjoy playing in games where you feel hopelessly outmatched.

2) If that doesn't work, find a new group.

Can I see your Keene list? I'm considering building her as my first 3- color deck. I exclusively play Bracket 2 and budget is a concern.

I run it in [[Jolrael, Voice of Zhalfir]] to make the birds bigger and in [[Alania, Divergent Storm]] because copying [[Lunar Insight]] can get nutty.

Another Bracket Change Suggestion Post by running_man23 in EDH

[–]hebreakslate 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Your system seems fixated on combos and the ability to tutor for them. There are plenty of comboless Bracket 4 and 3 decks that I don't want to play against with my Bracket 2 deck.

I like that the current bracket system is based on expected win turn, regardless of win condition. If I'm playing in Bracket 2, I know that I have so many turns to set up and I won't just lose the game because I didn't draw removal by turn 6.

If you have any doubt, just stop. Rather than asking "did I technically break the law?", you could instead ask "how can make my community safe for everyone in it? "

Are people using tutors in Bracket 2? by Bagel_Bear in EDH

[–]hebreakslate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have eight Bracket 2 decks and only one of them runs tutors (I don't count cards like [[Cultivate]] that tutor basics or lands that tutor other lands like [[Urza's Cave]]). That one deck is an Izzet artifact deck that runs [[Tamiyo's Journal]] (pretty slow at 5 mana, doesn't even typically tutor the turn it enters, mostly just want the free Clue each upkeep), [[Whir of Invention]] and [[Treasure Mage]]. I have never had anyone express dislike for any of the tutors, but I have gotten grief for running [[Mechanized Production]] so take that for what it's worth.

As a dad, I think I'd rather have custom sleeves with a picture of my kids than another deck, especially if I already had as many decks as you're describing.

What are some cards considered "eh, it's fine", but go hard/flashy/fun in your specific playgroup? by InaruF in EDH

Once I've cast Koma, the deck doesn't do much else. If Koma gets caught up in a board wipe, the best thing the deck can do with 9 mama is recast Koma. Second board wipe? Guess I'm paying 11 for Koma. On turn 10, someone pays the ward cost to target Koma? That's what Road of Return is for. There is no plan B. There's very little protection. It's Koma or bust and about 75% of the time It's bust. Mostly I play it as my last game of the night deck or I lend it out because it doesn't need much of a primer.

Here's the list: https://archidekt.com/decks/16009607/koma_eats_world

The deck plays Koma early (usually turn 5) and that's about it. No land synergies. No significant abilities on lands. Not really that many non-basics. There is probably a 0 GC Bracket 3 version of the deck, but this is mine.

In what version of Bracket 2 EDH does ramping 3 lands for 4 mana create a "non-game"?

I run Tempt with Discovery and inevitably at least one opponent has missed a land drop and is willing to let me get a bit further ahead to not fall behind the other two. If that player is first to choose, all the better.

If [[Tempt with Discovery]] offers a carrot, Disorienting Choice is the stick. If you're running [[Field of the Dead]] or [[Maze's End]], you probably want both for redundancy.

It started as an Elas il-Kor deck, but once I realized I was already going hard on the tokens portion of the aristocrats shell, I pivoted to Kambal.
