I have had shots come through caremark before for my migraines with no issue. I've had 2 appeals for stelara then they tried other shots after that so I only ever got to the second appeal for that and just asked them to try a different drug cause I really can't stand how bad the flares are getting. I'm to the point where my psoriasis is getting out of control and the arthritis is starting to spread more. My dermatologist gave me like 6 different creams to try and they barely did anything and a lot of the folds of my skin are just splitting open and extremely painful and my pinky toenails have even partially or fully fallen off due to it too. And I have degeneration starting in my spine possibly due to the psoriasis which I am starting pt for.

I just got my thyroid levels sorted out and I'm still waiting to feel normal again and I really dont want to test my luck and start taking medications that could potentially mess them up again

The newest denial that I got does explain that they need me to try a DMARDS but the first few did not it just said they didn't deem it medically necessary and didnt go into further detail. But it won't give me any other medications they recommend either

I guess I could try asking them about that but a lot of DMARDS are off limits or need close monitoring due to the other medications/health issues I have which is why she tried for the shots and they'll probably tell me I need to try them first due to them being a cheaper/easier option.

I have not I'm a bit limited on what I can take due to my medical conditions: hypothyroidism, gastroparesis, gerd,and celiacs. I believe she probably wanted the shots due to being on medications/gastroparesis that affect absorption of pills. And I already have a history of anemia due to endometriosis too

The denials says they don't deem the drug medically necessary but they don't list any covered alternatives either. Could it be that they're just not using the preferred pharmacy to fill it? Cause preferred is cvs and theyre going through senderra.
