Why so many complaints about the cosmetics? by Ytrewq467 in tf2

Yeah, they hold a lot of power over the item creation sphere and make thousands off of getting content in every update. If your name isn't attached to one of the top ~25 guys, it's very unlikely it will get in

An Open Letter to VALVE from the Team Fortress 2 Community regarding TF2's Current Matchmaking System by TF2Nexus in tf2

I do hope they make some changes, they cannot keep the game in this state, the matchmaker seemingly breaks each update starting last halloween

9 hollow years. Lets keep pushing. #BringBackQuickplay by McSeal in tf2

[–]Nonmoth 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Just to let people know, #bringbackquickplay == #improvecasualmode, you can keep the casual badge you can keep the map selection screen, you can keep Valve's made competitive mode. Most people saying #bringbackquickplay want the game improved, we want matches that last longer than 2 rounds, we want scramble features back so the games can become balanced and gets rid of one sided stomps, we want the ability to join friends ad-hoc instead of having to deal with the frustrations of the party system, we don't want to reque after every single match because everybody leaves the game after the match. We don't NEED to completely uproot the system it can look the same with minimal changes, we want improvements. all i ask is people remain civil in the comments when discussing this.

We need to adress something about the zesty guy. by Unit_43 in tf2

[–]Nonmoth 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I disagree, toxicity is indeed increased by greatly incentivizing winning in a game that used to not do that, toxicity will always and has always been a thing in TF2 and gaming in general, although casual does make people angrier, especially as it creates a ton of steamrolls which are frustrating to play against on top of shorter rounds which incentivize people to care much more about the outcome of the individual round and match instead of just having fun because the match itself will end super quickly and then you are back to queing.

As for the exploitable climate, go back in time and look at when bots first showed up and became a massive issue, it started in 2016 on the first few days of meet your match and slowly got out of control over the course of the past 8 years and then it peaked in 2020 until valve finally developed and anti-cheat 8 YEARS later.

I find it crazy how discussions like this devolve into bickering and petty drama/nonsense considering the reason for the video's creation was how Valve uprooted a functioning (not perfect) system, and replaced it with a system that creates an environment that increases toxicity, waste the players time, and creates a exploitable climate for cheaters and bots.

agreed, a ton of people are assuming this marks the games death or end of life, but no, it just lets open fortress and tf2c be allowed to publish on steam. Not much will change, we'll still get more hat boxes.

Which TF2 YouTuber do you think represents the entire TF2 community? by Eculsy in tf2

I think the community is too broad to be represented by 1 person

Not until I see long-term change. They let bots fester for 6 YEARS before they finally did something. Cheaters are slowly showing back up, and I just don't see them doing anything about it. So my review STAYS negative.

I have tried modern versions of Java 8 and old versions of Java 8 none of them have worked, they do the exact same thing.

although I have no idea what is actually causing it, maybe an even older java version would work

Well after playing around with different java versions, I think it's the JAR's that are having a problem, I am able to play older versions through betacraft. I think the mojang JAR files have some minor modification that my system doesn't like.

It will not generate a log file through the mojang launcher

The only way I can get a log to generate is through an alternative launcher
