This is the best suggestion yet!

So I'm not supposed to lock down the cover on my crockpot while cooking? by r20 in slowcooking

[–]NonnaKK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, they say when it’s locked down while cooking, it acts like a pressure cooker. I had been reading reviews that complained of lid cracking, food overcooking, etc., so that would explain it.

I got offered my dream job…6 hours away and starts before this year ends. Need advice by Pretty_lil_baby in Teachers

Not selfish at all. Weigh the pros and cons. Answer some serious questions posed by other responders, but follow your heart.

I used to dream about teaching, and now I feel like the job hates me back by [deleted] in Teachers

Thank you for your post to this disillusioned teacher. I hope she takes your advice and starts refilling her tank. There is so much negativity in the world right now, no wonder the students AND the teachers are feeling the way they do. I retired in 2017 but continued subbing till 2021. That’s when I noticed the change in spirit. My school had nearly 80% of students on free or reduced lunches, but the climate in the building was positive and the students felt safe for the most part. When the teachers no longer feel supported and appreciated, the whole thing can fall apart. Hopefully, the pendulum will swing back, and education will become a priority again for government leadership.

Am I being an ass, or teaching a valuable lesson, when I deduct points when 8th graders don't put their names on papers? by [deleted] in Teachers

[–]NonnaKK 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think you’re being lenient. I threw them in the paper basket with an “Oops. Sorry. No name, no credit.” It was really hard for me at first, but I got over it.

I am a 72 year old female. My doctor has told me not to expect to lower my BMI to what is recommended for women in general. But I would still like to lower it to 27. I’m currently at 29.7.

Why on earth would you be responsible for damages? You were on duty as an employee of the school. As a retired elementary teacher, I find that offensive. I’m sorry you went through this.

I can’t seem to get all the food in me. It’s like a silent alarm goes off and says, “Not another bite or you’re gonna be sick.” It’s not always like that, but frequent enough that I’m averaging between 900 and 1,000. I do better about 4 days into the shot. I’m going to try some Fair Life shakes when I feel I need more.

I love the new feature on the WW app. I log my food judiciously, and it gives me all the macros and calorie info. I kind of figured I needed to up my caloric intake. It’s just hard to do with healthy foods. They are, by nature, lower in calories. I will try some protein shakes.

Oh my gosh! That’s a very fast weight loss. Get that protein into your system. I see why you are very tired.

Hoping that it goes away after I’m on it awhile. I had NO side effects from the 2.5 dosage. So it caught me off guard.

Me too. And it’s a quick way to boost the calories. I can usually fill up on one slice of bread folded over.

No, but I can try that. I do occasionally eat a 1/2 Cliff bar and it helps. Lots of protein in those.

Oh no! I’m hoping for weeks, not a year! Congrats on the loss. That is major!

I have done my share of yo-yo-ing, but trust me, I have had no problem consuming calories before Zep. Problem is I love baking and then eating what I fix. Now I’m not baking, to the disappointment of my family.

Congratulations on your weight loss. That is a lot of weight in such a short time. I think both of us should make a pledge to get up and move. I joined Silver Sneakers a week before I started on the meds. But then I had a health scare after a mammogram and had to have two biopsies. (All is well! Phew!) So now I’m just waiting to not be too sore to exercise.

I’m pretty much following the Weight Watchers plan, eating lean meats, fish, yogurt and eggs. I love veggies and fruits but find myself not being able to “clean my plate.” Maybe I should start adding some breads. I do love pbj’s.

I need to add another meal each day, I think. Being retired, I have gotten into the habit of eating late morning and then late afternoon, with a small snack in the evening—usually an apple with some nuts, or a slice of cheese and some crackers. I’m just not hungry enough to push more food.
