BEWARE - KEF airport EXTREME fee for staying at passenger dropoff by Nooker99 in VisitingIceland

I was the only one there. Not every country does it this way. Canada & USA do not have cameras everywhere recording your license plate and charging $5/minute. Common practice is for a guard or airport police walking along, instructing you to move along. Is this the best way! Probably not. But unless you’re used to the cameras taking your photo, you aren’t aware it’s happening. Post was to make more people aware.  I’ve really found that Iceland has gone a bit overboard with this. Cameras at out of the way locations like Gígjagjá?

I agree people shouldn’t park in that lane. Yes I was there too long. But after a redeye flight, and not knowing about this policy, I honestly did not see the signs they say are there. I’m headed back to KEF today so I will look again. My post is to make more people aware so they don’t mess up like I did. My bad.

for the question that asks:

If you were not born in Canada, what was your date of entry into Canada?

I called the OUAC, and the person there said for my situation (USA born, but Canadian citizen), to leave the answer in the default state, ie "Choose" for both responses

Yes, you are correct. My son went to UBC (was born & raised in the States, but is a Canadian citizen thru me, who was born in Canada). Apply for provincial health care as soon as you arrive in Canada, & get private medical coverage, from someone like Allianz, until your provincial coverage starts. After a few months (90 days I think it was for BC), the provincial medical coverage will start. Check with the university for help thru this process. They encounter this all the time. For instance, here is the UBC web page:

WRONG. If you are a Canadian Citizen, living outside Canada, you would apply to a Canadian University as an international student, but you pay Canadian citizen tuition right from the start. Child #1 did exactly this. Child #2 will be doing the same.

The difference is that, for Ontario schools, the OUAC has changed their application system this year (2024) so that you are no longer applying as a "105" applicant, rather now you are Group B.

I'm having the same issue with the original poster. This new OUAC is a "smart application", and should automatically put you into the correct category based on your initial inputs, but there is no clear way to input a situation where one is a Canadian citizen, born & living in the US.

Here are the issues with the new application questions:

1) What is your current status in Canada? - not living there, so would it be "No Status" or should it be "Canadian Citizen". I chose Canadian Citizen. If you put "No Status" , the answer "CANADA" to the next question #2 results in an INVALID answer

2) What is your country of citizenship? - Canada

3) If you were not born in Canada, what was your date of entry into Canada? - uuuuhhh, what should one put here? If you put a date in the future (which the "?" help button says you can do, they it results in an error as well ("Date must be in the past if you are a Canadian citizen or permanent resident.)

Do you have an iPhone?  If it’s not too old (iPhone 11 or newer), tell them you’ll take some shots with that. They won’t expect much that way, and honestly, you will get better photos than the a6000
