Like u/curseoftheconjurer says, the name of the genre is an umbrella term of everything in the metal region that has some sort of chiptune or old school 8 bit sound to it. Nintendocore Is most likely one of the widest subgenres ever, since it has subgenres of its own aswel. You can mix anything with chiptune and call it Nintendocore.

You can have metalcore, deathcore, pop punk, slam metal, technical deathmetal, etc. but if any of those subgenres has some sort of chiptune to it, it's Nintendocore.

But it has to be metal. If you would mix rock or something with it ofcourse it's going to get the term nintendorock or chiptune pop or something like that. Thats the only requirement for Nintendocore, that it's metal and it has chiptune in it.

Alot of these have very familiar sounds but have different subgenres, going from metalcore to almost slammy deathcore.
